Heck, this is a GAY website. Supposedly everyone here is a gay man, yet there are GOP loyalists here. the GOP is a party that has been against every single bit of LGBT rights since Stonewall, and there are gay Republicans. Even now, the GOP wants to end sane-sex marriage, and make it legal for businesses to discriminate against gays, as long as they pretend their bigorty is religious.
For a gay person to be a republican is like a Jewish person being a nazi, or a black person being in the KKK, or a black person being a republican, or a woman being a republican, or an atheist being a republican, or a Muslim being a republican…
Wow- I couldn't agree with this more! I was just talking to some friends about how much it baffles me that there are gay men who can blind themselves to all the hatred and vitriol that the right throws at us, and they still insist on supporting the very groups that want to take away gay rights. ??? While there are reasons why gay men would support the Republican party (mainly economic reasons) I too do not understand the fascination with wanting to see fellow gays lose rights in this country. It's almost heartbreaking and I've seen so much of it on here. I'm married and it bothers me that there are so many gays on here who would just love to see me lose that right and not be able to make important decisions that hetero spouses get to make all the time after they get married. How is it identity politics to want to have the right to have my husband listed as my husband in my will and the same with me in his? How is it identity politics to want to be able to make crucial healthcare decisions as many spouses have to do? God forbid something bad happens, and I can't make those important decisions because Republicans would have done something that causes the SCOTUS to declare same-sex marriages illegal or pass some kind of loophole legislation to undermine same-sex marriage. We all know it's only a matter of time before the Republican party falls back to the "ban the gays" stance to unite their party again once they hit those 2005-2006 level approval numbers and they got pushed out of Congress in many elections across the country. Barack Obama is gone and we're the default they used to unify their base with prior to Obama being elected. The Republicans simply cannot be trusted at this point. These are the same Republicans that fought tooth and nail against an important hate crime bill with Matthew Shepard's name on it.

Donald Trump hasn't done anything to gay people. Ifact, he hired many of them to run his hotels because "they did a good job." People were asked, what did Trump do? And they said, "He picked Mike Pence! Look at his history!" Well so what? Look at the Clinton's history, they were the ones who passed the Defense of Marriage Act. So what if Pence didn't want to force someone to bake their gay cake, that's fascism. Why would you want them to bake your cake anyway? Just go to someone who wants to so you don't get boogers in it. All Trump said was that the gay marriage thing should be a state's rights issue but since the Supreme Court already ruled on it, that's the end of it. He has never said anything negative to gay people. The idea that he's a homophobe is stupid. He's not even a Republican. He actually DESTROYED the reputations of the most prominent Republicans - such as McCain, Lindsay Graham, and Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, who were all very against gay rights and you guys wanna act like because he ran on the Republican ticket to win that he hates you. All of these organizations are lock-step in the mainstream narrative. You don't actually have any diversity of sources. All of your sources come from the liberal mainstream media and all of them show the same exact agenda and bias.
Some crazy figure like 96% of all journalists are liberal, and all of these journalists represent the mainstream side of the coin. Conservatives make up about half this country, yet are barely even represented. Why do you expect to able to see the other side of the coin from any news organization when there is a vast under-representation of conservative viewpoints in the mainstream media?

And the fact remains that ACTUAL EXPERTS in the energy industry have confirmed that coal is NOT going to get a huge boost in job numbers NO MATTER what Trump does. For that one- time can give us the actual proof- we can look at the coal industry in say, a year- and see how many actual new jobs were created? You know, the kind of fact checking that actual journalists do?
In the end it boils down to controlling the narrative- why else do you think the bible thumping, climate-change denying, vaccine conspiracy believing conservatives are so afraid of science? So against scientific fact and research…ask yourself why? The only reason to fear knowledge is if you know, deep down, that it is going to prove that what you believe is wrong, and people hate to admit to being wrong. Sometimes they'd rather lie to themselves first.

The claim is true - I even provided a source. Not exactly 96% (which was just the number I recalled off the top of my head), but well over 90% of the people reporting on Trump vote democrat, and large percentages of them donate to democratic super-pacs.
You would like to claim that journalists are liberal, because liberal ideology is more "correct". Even if you believe this to be true, the subsequent condescension (c.f., staged moon-landings) is unnecessary and you've got to know that this kind of elitist, condescending attitude is one major reason people rebelled against the establishment, right?
You could be correct in every single one of your espoused political beliefs, but if you actively work to shut down the opposing viewpoints without addressing their concerns through insults, or as more and more common, physical violence, people won't listen to you. You need to work on your delivery. Furthermore, the mainstream media has been caught in so many disgusting lies and falsehoods; ignoring these issues and pretending that the media is an unbiased conveyance of facts and logic does your argument no service.

Liberals like to talk a lot about representation, but half this country is conservative, and they are not represented in the media. If you're talking to someone who isn't liberal, you cannot expect them to possibly believe that Trump would get a fair shake by the media elite, when the large majority of them are ideologically opposed and biased. Just seriously try to put yourself in their shoes for just one moment. If all the media were conservative, would you be inclined to listen and believe?
So then, if conservatives won't listen to the media, who will they listen to? Well for starters, they'll listen to people who've made personal sacrifices to get where they are. First off, strangeloop- I was making a point and used the moon landing as an example. I never insulted you, nor did I threaten you in any way. I even told you you're free to believe what you want.
And second, MORE importantly- it's not about ideology. You've got me all wrong. I am about integrity and the truth. So what I feel you are mistaken by is that the NEWS media is NOT ABOUT REPRESENTATION. It's about FACTS. Like when you have scientific studies that prove climate change and report about it– is that liberal? Or is it just plain facts WITHOUT necessarily having a political ownership by the left or right? When I read reports about the US apologizing to the UK about the false wiretapping claims- that is NOT being slapped with liberal propaganda- it's reading PLAIN OLD FACTS> it happened regardless of what the left or right think. Just because facts seem to favor one side or the other does not make it biased. It is what it is.
The sort of equal representation you're looking for is the province of shows like Stephen Colbert, SNL, Hannity, Bill Maher, etc- these are OPINION shows and BOTH sides are very much entitled to representation.
So - to be clear (and not condescending)- Actual serious news reports that Trumpcare failed to pass and replace Obamacare is NEWS and not left propaganda. The OPINION about whether Trumpcare is good or bad for the country- that's where representation, and biases can come into play.

I think your football quip is incredibly ironic, given the near complete ownership the democratic party has over the gay community. There were actually no contentious issue about this election that had anything to do with LGBT issues. What's also further ironic is juxtaposing the hysterical, even suicidal reactions of many LGBT with the reality that Trump is actually the first president in U.S. history to have no issues whatsoever with gay marriage. You say that I am blindly biased, but up until 1-2 years ago, I saw myself as an ordinary mainstream liberal. My beliefs were challenged and changed based on what I saw happening.
The mainstream media is absolutely the liberal media, and have their own agenda and bias. No conspiracy needed, only cronyism and bias. 50% of Americans, not 90% have XYZ political ideology. But 90% of reporters do. Again, it's about representation.
Secondly, even assuming that climate change has a straightforward answer based on science, the large majority of issues do not have an objective or scientific-based answer. You want to generalize your belief about climate science having an objective answer to the rest of your political beliefs. That is malarkey. The mirror shows me that Trump or his supporters do not go out in the streets with shovels and baseball bats beating people unconscious while the police stand idly by doing nothing to stop it. The mirror shows me that liberals, not conservatives rioted in the streets after the election, smashing windows, cars and settting shit on fire.

My last word on all this silliness about Obama and Hillary- why aren't they in jail or being prosecuted if ANY of it has basis in FACT???
