Trump seen from Canada

Where do you get this garbage from? You must watch a lot of CNN.
His wiretapping claims have not been debunked, in fact, every few days - including today - more comes out to support Trump's claims. Also, nobody apologized to the UK.. nor do they need to. Every major country spies on every other major country.. even if they are allies. The problem is when one's OWN country spies on it's own citizens - which is illegal, and it what Trump complained about. The "outdated" coal industry is far from being outdated.. and clean coal is now doing quite well. I can actually share something about that. Many years ago… while moving south from New York, and driving through New Jersey, there were massive chimneys from factories billowing clouds of black smoke. They have a lot of industry in that area, and it smelled so bad that one had to raise the windows, and hold their nose while driving past them. A few years ago, I went through the same areas, and the factories now spew out billowing white clouds which are steam vapor, and the windows can be opened.
Hahaha! Okay you want sources- let's talk sources. You think it's CNN? Here are just some of the sources- and none of them are CNN.
Read something other than alt-news and be better informed. Your ignorance is showing and really getting sad.http://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2017/2/21/14671932/donald-trump-coal-mining-jobs
As for the wiretapping. I said the US apologized and was humiliated. Trump refused because he's just a conspiracy spouting liar. LOL! Again, no CNN here:
http://boingboing.net/2017/03/17/trump-humiliated-as-administra.html
So, unless you can match and counter those with sources and links of your own, just give it a rest and stop swallowing the Trump kool aid.
-
Speaking from the USA in our defense, please remember:
1. Trump lost the popular vote, to another candidate who was herself unpopular. If not for the anachronism of the Electoral College, Clinton would be President. (I didn't vote for her either, FWIW).
2. Trump is deeply unpopular in the USA - his approval ratings are in the mid- to upper 30% range - very low for a new president.
-
I've given up on trying to reason with Trump supporters. It's like they're living in a fantasy world where all his crap and his incompetence are invisible to them. But whatever, time will tell; let's see if he lasts 4 years. At least he's entertaining for now. Reading American political news these days is like watching the Kardashians: you know it's trash, you know it's a mess, you knows it's a trainwreck, but you keep watching because you know you're gonna get a good laugh or two.
-
There really is no other side, unfortunately. Almost no one on the planet likes him, except for his Wall Street billionaire friends who he's determined to give absurd tax cuts to and the people who drank the crazy juice. The problem is, his "fans" are so violently vocal that it's hard to hear anything over their screeching. It's like when an eschatological conspiracy theorist gets hold of a megaphone and starts yelling at strangers on the street. Unfortunately, most of his fans are undereducated, underemployed, and under the poverty line, so they have a whole lot of free time to scream their nonsense online ;3
-
The news coverage in Canada is only very negative. Like Trump is basically described and shown as a total clown, liar, raper, con, awkward, Russian (pretty much).
That is a pretty accurate unbiased description of the man.
It doesn't seem like there is a second side of the coin. What do you think ? Is he going to be President longer than a year ? IMOO, he will resign before being beheaded and claim health issues and a year after blame Obama for his health issues. :blownose:
The problem we have here is "Fake news". We have propaganda machines specifically created to brainwash conservatives to vote Republican. It began with talk radio, then evolved to FOX News, and now the alt-right websites.
Originaly they were funded by the wealthy to get people to vote for politicians who cut programs for the poor and middle class and make things beter for the rich by scapegoating minorities- we will protect you from the blacks. we will protect you from the gays. we will protect you from the muslims. we will protect you from the Mexicans.
Now, they are the tool of Russia and who knows what interests to get useful idiots to vote for the destruction of the country.
I do not see much hope in the future, because these people who support Trump, or even the GOP before Trump, do not think, they just feel.
Heck, this is a GAY website. Supposedly everyone here is a gay man, yet there are GOP loyalists here. the GOP is a party that has been against every single bit of LGBT rights since Stonewall, and there are gay Republicans. Even now, the GOP wants to end sane-sex marriage, and make it legal for businesses to discriminate against gays, as long as they pretend their bigorty is religious.
For a gay person to be a republican is like a Jewish person being a nazi, or a black person being in the KKK, or a black person being a republican, or a woman being a republican, or an atheist being a republican, or a Muslim being a republican…

Wow- I couldn't agree with this more! I was just talking to some friends about how much it baffles me that there are gay men who can blind themselves to all the hatred and vitriol that the right throws at us, and they still insist on supporting the very groups that want to take away gay rights. ??? I can't figure this out.
And a special shout out to wohdin for your comment using eschatological conspiracy theorist- three words that I never expected to encounter at a gay porn download site- you made my day, sir! I couldn't agree more with your sentiments as well.

Remove all the political elements and he is still an embarrassment on a basic human level. I am ashamed that this man represents my country.
Couldn't have put it much better in words. You are 100% correct.

"Clean coal?" lol. CO2 is still CO2 and the amount is the same. And it's this GHG that's warming up our atmosphere. Ironically, ash and other "dirty" particles can collect in the atmosphere, creating clouds, which reflect sunlight, and causing temperatures to decrease. But this cooling effect is short term while the CO2 warming effect is long term.

Read something other than alt-news and be better informed. Your ignorance is showing and really getting sad.All of these organizations are lock-step in the mainstream narrative. You don't actually have any diversity of sources. All of your sources come from the liberal mainstream media and all of them show the same exact agenda and bias.
Some crazy figure like 96% of all journalists are liberal, and all of these journalists represent the mainstream side of the coin. Conservatives make up about half this country, yet are barely even represented. Why do you expect to able to see the other side of the coin from any news organization when there is a vast under-representation of conservative viewpoints in the mainstream media?
-
Here's the source: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/nov/8/republicans-media-bias-claims-boosted-by-scarcity-/
"More than 90 percent of D.C. journalists vote Democratic, with an even higher number giving to Democrats or liberal-leaning political action committees, the author said."

While there are reasons why gay men would support the Republican party (mainly economic reasons) I too do not understand the fascination with wanting to see fellow gays lose rights in this country. It's almost heartbreaking and I've seen so much of it on here. I'm married and it bothers me that there are so many gays on here who would just love to see me lose that right and not be able to make important decisions that hetero spouses get to make all the time after they get married. How is it identity politics to want to have the right to have my husband listed as my husband in my will and the same with me in his? How is it identity politics to want to be able to make crucial healthcare decisions as many spouses have to do? God forbid something bad happens, and I can't make those important decisions because Republicans would have done something that causes the SCOTUS to declare same-sex marriages illegal or pass some kind of loophole legislation to undermine same-sex marriage. We all know it's only a matter of time before the Republican party falls back to the "ban the gays" stance to unite their party again once they hit those 2005-2006 level approval numbers and they got pushed out of Congress in many elections across the country. Barack Obama is gone and we're the default they used to unify their base with prior to Obama being elected. The Republicans simply cannot be trusted at this point. These are the same Republicans that fought tooth and nail against an important hate crime bill with Matthew Shepard's name on it.
-
Donald Trump hasn't done anything to gay people. Ifact, he hired many of them to run his hotels because "they did a good job." People were asked, what did Trump do? And they said, "He picked Mike Pence! Look at his history!" Well so what? Look at the Clinton's history, they were the ones who passed the Defense of Marriage Act. So what if Pence didn't want to force someone to bake their gay cake, that's fascism. Why would you want them to bake your cake anyway? Just go to someone who wants to so you don't get boogers in it. All Trump said was that the gay marriage thing should be a state's rights issue but since the Supreme Court already ruled on it, that's the end of it. He has never said anything negative to gay people. The idea that he's a homophobe is stupid. He's not even a Republican. He actually DESTROYED the reputations of the most prominent Republicans - such as McCain, Lindsay Graham, and Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, who were all very against gay rights and you guys wanna act like because he ran on the Republican ticket to win that he hates you. It's really stupid to me and you guys are just being retarded and don't appreciate that he actually obliterated the anti-gay Republican party. Trump has never said or done anything negative to gay people and the idea that he has is completely ridiculous. Get a life.

Conservatives make up about half this country, yet are barely even represented. Why do you expect to able to see the other side of the coin from any news organization when there is a vast under-representation of conservative viewpoints in the mainstream media?
Ah! I was waiting for this. Yes, they are all in lockstep with the mainstream narrative. It's called JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY- and the reason that it works in lockstep for the most part is because it's based on OBSERVABLE and VERIFIABLE FACTS- you know- things like science and scientific studies- that kind of thing which is so inconvenient to alt-fact loving conservatives.
Vilifying the so-called mainstream media by claiming that they are lying is a tried and true tactic in debate called "poisoning the well".
Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_the_well
By telling everyone that a whopping 96% of all journalists are liberal- you expect people to just dismiss the reporting because of that? If in fact it's even true (which it's not). Historically, when fascists are threatened by the facts presented by the media- they like to discredit the media, weaken it so people don't get the facts and they can get away with whatever they want.If you really think all the sources I cited are working together in some grand conspiracy- then that's on you. I can't force you to change your belief. But the fact remains that the US apologized to the UK- it happened and was confirmed by both sides- unless you are telling me they just staged it like the moon landings maybe?
And the fact remains that ACTUAL EXPERTS in the energy industry have confirmed that coal is NOT going to get a huge boost in job numbers NO MATTER what Trump does. For that one- time can give us the actual proof- we can look at the coal industry in say, a year- and see how many actual new jobs were created? You know, the kind of fact checking that actual journalists do?
In the end it boils down to controlling the narrative- why else do you think the bible thumping, climate-change denying, vaccine conspiracy believing conservatives are so afraid of science? So against scientific fact and research…ask yourself why? The only reason to fear knowledge is if you know, deep down, that it is going to prove that what you believe is wrong, and people hate to admit to being wrong. Sometimes they'd rather lie to themselves first.
-
By telling everyone that a whopping 96% of all journalists are liberal- you expect people to just dismiss the reporting because of that? If in fact it's even true (which it's not).
The claim is true - I even provided a source. Not exactly 96% (which was just the number I recalled off the top of my head), but well over 90% of the people reporting on Trump vote democrat, and large percentages of them donate to democratic super-pacs.
You would like to claim that journalists are liberal, because liberal ideology is more "correct". Even if you believe this to be true, the subsequent condescension (c.f., staged moon-landings) is unnecessary and you've got to know that this kind of elitist, condescending attitude is one major reason people rebelled against the establishment, right?
You could be correct in every single one of your espoused political beliefs, but if you actively work to shut down the opposing viewpoints without addressing their concerns through insults, or as more and more common, physical violence, people won't listen to you. You need to work on your delivery. Furthermore, the mainstream media has been caught in so many disgusting lies and falsehoods; ignoring these issues and pretending that the media is an unbiased conveyance of facts and logic does your argument no service.
Besides all this, you've missed the point -
Liberals like to talk a lot about representation, but half this country is conservative, and they are not represented in the media. If you're talking to someone who isn't liberal, you cannot expect them to possibly believe that Trump would get a fair shake by the media elite, when the large majority of them are ideologically opposed and biased. Just seriously try to put yourself in their shoes for just one moment. If all the media were conservative, would you be inclined to listen and believe?
So then, if conservatives won't listen to the media, who will they listen to? Well for starters, they'll listen to people who've made personal sacrifices to get where they are. People like Edward Snowden and Julian Assange who are beyond reproach and have not once been caught in a lie or journalistic failing. For example: https://twitter.com/Snowden/status/844611686682181632
Right or wrong, if a spy agency – via any method -- intercepts, copies, or otherwise reviews your communications, they have spied on you.
Reporter asks if Nunes feels that the IC was spying on Trump/team.
Nunes: "It all depends on one's definition of spying."
And just like that, a Single tweet by someone with proven integrity carries more weight than all of the mainstream liberal media combined.
-
First off, strangeloop- I was making a point and used the moon landing as an example. I never insulted you, nor did I threaten you in any way. I even told you you're free to believe what you want.
And second, MORE importantly- it's not about ideology. You've got me all wrong. I am about integrity and the truth. So what I feel you are mistaken by is that the NEWS media is NOT ABOUT REPRESENTATION. It's about FACTS. Like when you have scientific studies that prove climate change and report about it– is that liberal? Or is it just plain facts WITHOUT necessarily having a political ownership by the left or right? When I read reports about the US apologizing to the UK about the false wiretapping claims- that is NOT being slapped with liberal propaganda- it's reading PLAIN OLD FACTS> it happened regardless of what the left or right think. Just because facts seem to favor one side or the other does not make it biased. It is what it is.
The sort of equal representation you're looking for is the province of shows like Stephen Colbert, SNL, Hannity, Bill Maher, etc- these are OPINION shows and BOTH sides are very much entitled to representation.
So - to be clear (and not condescending)- Actual serious news reports that Trumpcare failed to pass and replace Obamacare is NEWS and not left propaganda. The OPINION about whether Trumpcare is good or bad for the country- that's where representation, and biases can come into play.
-
strangeloop, your blind bias is amazing.
You think politics is a football game, with your team against the opposing team, and all that is important is team loyalty.
SO, in your mind, if most journalists are liberal, then they must all be lying on behalf of an agenda.
Real journalists- mainstream journalists- value TRUTH over everything. Mainstream Media is not "Liberal Media". They value getting people to read the articles, and making sure their reputation for truthful reporting is maintained.
Yes, they are human beings and have made mistakes from time to time, but that is nothing like how the alt-right blatantly lies to push their agenda.
There is such a thing as facts, not "alternative facts". Climate change is a fact. Fossil fuel companies spread propaganda because they do not like that fact. Our health care industry was crap before Obamacare, and Obamacare did NOT make it worse- they put a band-aid on a tumor. A slight improvement, but not much in the long run.
[desc=]You could be correct in every single one of your espoused political beliefs, but if you actively work to shut down the opposing viewpoints without addressing their concerns through insults, or as more and more common, physical violence, people won't listen to you. You need to work on your delivery.
[/desc]How do you not see the mirror reality of what you just wrote?
Donald Trump, through the entire campaign and now, actively works to shut down opposing viewpoints. He did a mass purge of employees left over from the Obama era. His Press secretary silences or ignores any questions he does not want to answer. Donald Trump constantly insults everyone, non stop, and you pretend it is liberals who need to work on their delivery?
Again- in your mind, if 90% of people all agree about something, it could not possibly be that they are correct.
It must be a conspiracy. If people who spend their lives studying a specific scientific discipline all have the same result and tell you that result- and you ignore them, you think it is condescending if they point out you are wrong.
This is the problem with the conservative mindset- you think your ignorance is the same as someone else's knowledge.
-
I think your football quip is incredibly ironic, given the near complete ownership the democratic party has over the gay community. There were actually no contentious issue about this election that had anything to do with LGBT issues. What's also further ironic is juxtaposing the hysterical, even suicidal reactions of many LGBT with the reality that Trump is actually the first president in U.S. history to have no issues whatsoever with gay marriage. But this is pretty irrelevant, as is your quip that I'm treating politics like a football game. I think you can see how I can easily throw it right back at you.
You say that I am blindly biased, but up until 1-2 years ago, I saw myself as an ordinary mainstream liberal. My beliefs were challenged and changed based on what I saw happening.
The mainstream media is absolutely the liberal media, and have their own agenda and bias. No conspiracy needed, only cronyism and bias. 50% of Americans, not 90% have XYZ political ideology. But 90% of reporters do. Again, it's about representation.
Secondly, even assuming that climate change has a straightforward answer based on science, the large majority of issues do not have an objective or scientific-based answer. You want to generalize your belief about climate science having an objective answer to the rest of your political beliefs. That is malarkey. What I am getting from this thread is that liberals think their political opinions are objective facts.
That's one of many reason I no longer consider myself liberal.
How do you not see the mirror reality of what you just wrote?
Donald Trump, through the entire campaign and now, actively works to shut down opposing viewpoints. He did a mass purge of employees left over from the Obama era. His Press secretary silences or ignores any questions he does not want to answer. Donald Trump constantly insults everyone, non stop, and you pretend it is liberals who need to work on their delivery?
The mirror shows me that conservative speakers, not liberal speakers are shutdown by riots on college campuses, or in same cases just flat out no-platformed. The mirror shows me that conservatives, not liberals are actively censored from social media platforms by unaccountable and unelected technocrats. The mirror shows me that Trump or his supporters do not go out in the streets with shovels and baseball bats beating people unconscious while the police stand idly by doing nothing to stop it. The mirror shows me that liberals, not conservatives rioted in the streets after the election, smashing windows, cars and settting shit on fire.
So yes, I believe that it's the left that has become increasingly authoritarian, not the right.
-
So - to be clear (and not condescending)- Actual serious news reports that Trumpcare failed to pass and replace Obamacare is NEWS and not left propaganda. The OPINION about whether Trumpcare is good or bad for the country- that's where representation, and biases can come into play.
I'm not sure if you realize it, but the fact that you even call it Trumpcare to begin with is leftist propaganda. Same with "Obamacare" coming from the right, to be fair. And actually, it would be more accurate to call it Ryancare, but I disgress.
You may think contention with this phrase is nitpicking, and it is, but repetition of engineered diction, prolific use of weasel words, and lies by omission are simple tools that easily craft narratives. As an example? Find me a single factual inaccuracy in this article: http://i.imgur.com/CRaBPOx.jpg

It's crazy how you guys are associating anything negative to Trump about Obamacare. Obamacare sucks. It's not insurance, it's a tax, that's why you have to file the mandate on your tax return. It's a terrible socialist program. You don't like walking into a store and having the ability to choose, the sucky phone or the smart phone of your choice? You just want one option? Well in most places, that's what you get, one choice with Obamacare - you don't get the choice, because socialism sucks. It's stupid that you guys don't understand that the bankers are robbing the people, ripping them off, buying up all the world's resources, and creating a global dictatorship that they can distribute how they see fit while keeping all the wealth and instead think so small as though Trump is going to end your ability to have a big gay wedding. This is the reason we need the wall because we don't want the global socialist dictatorship giving us one option - theirs or nothing. Things are bigger than just gay marriage and to think otherwise is insanely ignorant.
