Recently i have been thinking about how carefree i was when i was a little boy.I was around my family, i did not have many friends but i was happy with my life then.I also did not care if somebody did not love me that much, as i knew my family did and still does love me as i love them.Being a teenager and exploring myself and my (homo)sexuality was fun at first, but know all i can do is think with nostalgia about the past.As for now, i do not have any social life at all, by choice, i had some friends, i met the world and all i can say is that i do not have faith in people any more.
I know that is is not helping, but this is what i am going through and i have accepted it, so i have calmed down a little bit.But the past life as a little kid haunts me.Am I the only one who sometimes misses his childhood?Honestly, even if someone has bad memories of his childhood, i think that sometimes thinks about the past and smiles.

I was happier but dumber, so no.

          Absolutely not.
We tend to forget bad experiences and just fondly remember the good times we had.

No. To be honest, I don't remember anything that great about my youth (it wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either). There are certainly things which remind me of simpler times and make me feel nostalgic, but nothing more. I don't believe people can grow as individuals by living in the past instead of facing what's in front of them today.

Still, I do sometimes wish I could start over, knowing what I know now.

I miss having no responsibilities. When life was all about having fun and playing childish games with friends.

I miss it. Life was much simpler back then. My needs were so basic. Ah, I miss ignorance.

reliving my childhood as it was would be a nightmare. (autistic child) now reliving it with what I know today probably. But that would also mean to see my mother die again so . humm..

Don't like childhood, I hate my father and dislike my mother, they are mad and angry out of control, I have friends, most of time I even live in my best friend house to avoid see my parient, when I was 9 I told my mother that she must leave my father that may be best to us. You don't love him, I am your burden, we have a suck life, I am a top A student in my school classmate like to play with me. I sleep in different classmate houses. After 10 years I have to go to a university which is far away from my hometown, I don't tell them the name of my college. But they know where am I. Finally I forgive my father when he is gone, I attend his funeral, and I tear at someplace with no one. I realized I miss something too much, I came to see him every year if possible, it's funny that you can't say love to a live person till he is gone. So I am a absolute marriage supporter.

I did miss my life as a child, until I read the above quoted posting… makes sense... I do have more control of my perception of happiness now than I did as a child...

Not really… i was trully a socially akward kid.

But if given the opportunity to start my life over, i'd take it... (and do lots of things differently)

No you're not alone. In fact, I'm feeling exactly the same. Looking back to all those years where I can be carefree, and be loved no matter what flaws I made. But really, if I could go back in time, that's because my family was still in one piece. I know I would want to spend more time with my Dad (he passed away 10 years ago), because there were so many things I wanted to do with him. More than that, my other family and friends were still 'good' as well. Growing up opens up my mind about people, and I long for the time when I can see other people without resentment, disgust, or anger, but with a naivety of a child.

Just like many others who posted their thoughts here, I did not have a happy childhood. I was awkward, and at times bullied, but I was also purer and kinder back then. And I prefer my old self better. Beside, life was simpler, and with less worries and responsibilities.

I'm lucky enough to have some good memories of childhood- and some good friends back then that I don't see so much now. That's what I miss the most- having more freedom to just hang out with good friends and goof off without having to worry about work.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short.
But shout it at them in German, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Charlie Brown pretty well sums up my opinion on being grown up.
