Besides, i guess you do not share needles with others drugs-partners. LoL
I do often, where I leve those exams are offered for free by the government. And I participate in a lot of programs for sharing information about diseases, etc. So…
Do protect sex. If you have a trusted BF, talk with him and get both the exams. -

Yeah definitely get tested twice a year and more if I'm really sexually active. A lot of STI's are curable so best to get treated before you spread it.

Would you recommend every few months or annually?
this will depend how active your sex life is and when or if you engage in risky sex. if you are active, i suggest you go in every 4 mos to make sure of the dormant period to take action as early as possible- if ever. if you engage in safe sex, annually is good enough if only to be self assured. in any case, just dont do risky sex and you'd be fine in testing whether its quartely or annualy.

As for HIV, I don't get tested to see if I have it at all anymore since, well… you can only catch it once. ;D
As for other STI's, I generally follow the rule of getting tested every 4 to 6 months just as a general precaution, even when I'm in a dry spell in the sex department. Most liberal healthcare folk will tell you to get tested every 3 months, however a more conservative and realistic safe schedule (for those of us who aren't total sluts like I used to be) would be every 4 to 6 months. If you're only really having sex once in a blue moon however, it may make more sense to stretch it out to every 6 to 8 months.

When I was sexually active-I haven't been for years now, I would get tested every 3 months or twice a year, even though I have never had bareback/"Raw" or unprotected anal or vaginal sex with a woman or man, and I practice safer sex.

Every twelve weeks/4 months is the testing schedule as sexual health clinics here. STDs like Syphilis and Gonorrhea can infect the blood, reach the brain and other vital organs and do massive permanent damage if left undetected for too long.
