This will depend on who's doing the survey

According to survey made by Planet Romeo, an Amsterdam-based dating and community site, in collaboration with the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in Germany have carry out an online survey of 115,000 gay men around the world. They combined rankings on public opinion, public behavior and life satisfaction – how gay men feel about society’s view on homosexuality, how gay men feel they are treated by other people, and how satisfied gay men are with their own lives, respectively – into one worldwide ranking on gay happiness.

This survey was made May 2015 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/05/27/the-countries-where-gay-men-are-the-happiest/

My personal opinion and observation in the Philippines, even though the country is predominantly Catholic and it is considered immoral to be gay, its really not as issue to be gay in there. I guess the low satisfaction rating stated for the country is because they can't find a partner and not really living a gay person. Its really rare in the Philippines to have issues like what the western countries have, like bullying, suicide, attacks, bashing, killing, abandoning by the family. Of course there are situations, but not like what I've heard from the news. That is why as a Filipino, i find it very disturbing to see gay news about attacks in western countries, and I am not talking about countries where homosexuality is a crimes, I am talking about countries where gay marriage is legal and yet the country as a whole has a lot of sad/disturbing news in the community.

There's also so much diversity within a country. I.e., growing up or being gay in the US will depend on if you are growing up in San Francisco, California or NYC, New York vs. say Bumblefuck, Middle America.

I live in Toronto. Canada is near the top of every list of the most livable places in the world, so life here is pretty great if you are gay or not.

Scandinavia! People there are very open-minded. They don't judge or mind what you are!

:true: Come to think of it, religious sect here are more tolerant towards gays, I still yet to hear news that a priest or a pastor rant about homosexual in their sermons here in our country. As of now, our gov't is more on drug trafficking preventive measures. Foreigners may find this hard to believe but gay/gay relationship here is just catching up, Some may disagree with me but most gay here still opt for straight guys. So if the questions in the survey includes gay marriage, then our country is not one of the best country to be gay, but for overall acceptance and tolerance, very minimum (isolated) gay bashing and gay hate killings, then yes, our country is a good place for being gay

Scanadinavia is super emotionally cold, and many people hide their true prejudice against foreigners.

Another vote for Toronto, or Canada in general 🙂

Having lived in London, it's not THAT gay-friendly. I definitely don't see same-sex couples holding hands outside LGBT neighbourhoods, and this holds true for several European destinations, such as Paris. Being in a gay-bubble, to me, is restrictive. If a regular couple can show PDA anywhere, then I should be too.

However, in Toronto, you'll see it anywhere.
