Having conservative views doesn't necessarily mean one is close-minded.

What religion is your family? If it is Christianity, do they follow the Old Testament or New Testament more?
If New Testament, remember that Jesus preached love and acceptance and said nothing about homosexuality. Follow what Jesus said, not what Jesus' followers said.
