I do wonder sometimes if there is a language barrier even in what seems universal like moaning and grunting. I think the goggles thing is more of an anonimity issue, asian countries are not quite acceptant of homosexuality, so is natural that men doing a gay porn would want their identities to not be revealed.

The pixels are actually not restricted to gay porn as all "indecent exposure" is illegal in Japan. The ban even extends to drawings, games, art, video games and so forth. Genitals (and at least until recently, even just pubic hair) is illegal to show afaik.
