OK, instead of harassing the original poster just use the report button - I have always found a message there saying this 'perhaps should be in … category' gets a response from the staff. No-one gets hurt.

I have seen so many nasty demands in the comments under a torrent saying 'wrong category', 'no thumbs' 'your mother never married' that it is no wonder people don't bother *.

There are nice ways of pointing out what might be better ways of doing. And saying 'thanks for sharing' while you do it is a good start.

        @cannonmc:

Do you want rigid rules or people who share? I know two sites where I won't even bother trying to share because their rules are unintelligible.

Every torrent that has been downloaded should have screenshots…provided by the downloaders. If you have the movie, and you do if you've downloaded it, you can make some screenshots and upload them, anonymously and get some points. The major job has already been done by the uploader.

Honestly I think I'd rather have the upload and do my own research than wait for a "meticulously crafted description"

What do people want for their ha'penny? A bull fight?

Correct me if I am wrong but there is nothing about 'rigid' rules on this post.  There was a suggestion regarding obvious issues with a part of the site and a motion for a possible solution.  No one hinted or suggested any form of rigidity.

Far be it GT.ru has and operates a rigid handbook, it is quite the opposite, the problem however is that what rules there are, are either not enforced at all or given such a wide birth that there is no incentive for any uploader to follow what rules exist to begin with.  No rules you end up with massif amounts of complaints.

I don't think anyone is asking for more rules here just ways to make things better for the sake of waning quality.

I'm not gonna directly target any comments, but rather make general comments on the topic.

If you are going to upload something, then you should be able to post a couple of pictures and write a few words on what it's about.  If you haven't used/view the item, then you have no business posting it as you don't know if it works.

If, as a downloader, you find something wrong with a torrent, use the REPORT button.

              I also just thought I'd add a little something…

Once upon a time, many moons ago, we used to have a much more stringent rules on new uploads. In fact, at one point, all new uploads used to have to go through a moderator's approval to ensure that they meet these requirements. The downside to this eventually became that we had a higher number of uploads each day pending approval than we had the manpower in which to keep up with the new uploads. For this reason, we had to switch to the current system where all uploads are automatically approved. The other downside to this is that with the uploads being automatically approved, we do not have any control over the quality of the information found within the torrent information page, nor can we control the quality of the images uploaded with the torrent.

All this being said, I definitely do understand your frustrations. Nothing drives me more bat shit crazy than torrents with wrong, poor quality, or completely irrelevant pictures, posted without the correct studio and title, and of course, not properly tagged. Like a lot of users on the site, I too have a high demand for knowing what I'm downloading before I download it. As a moderator, I try to correct such things as I see them, however as one person, I can only correct so much. Now, with this being said, if you had a proposed method in which we could implement such an enforcement system with our current resources, we'd be more than happy to consider such a system. Sometimes being the largest site can be a disadvantage, particularly when we have a limited staff power.

On that note, if there are particular torrents that you're frustrated by, you can always send me a PM with the torrent URL's in question, and I'd be more than happy to do what I can with them.

Just to add on, the situation has gotten worst in the last couple of weeks. Not sure if anyone notice, but there are loads of incomplete titles. There should be a system in placed to tackle this issue.

There is a system in place - Report the offending torrent.

There is not enough time in the world for the moderators to check every single torrent, it takes a community effort, if you see a torrent that is in breech of the site rules then use the function to report it.

Just to add that although the line says 'violations of the rules' there doesn't have to be a violation to make a report.

It could be something as simple as a typo in the title which would spoil a search. Don't worry that your report will get the post deleted. The staff adjust things well, they just need to know 🙂

Point of interest… Improper, missing, or incorrect pictures, a lack of description, etc. technically are violations of the rules in and of themselves.

Yes but mis-spelling a title isn't but it could affect a search 🙂

                          Transmission

Drag and drop the file into transmission to create the torrent file.
