How is the seed bonus needed to turn free leech calculated? and is there a way to make this smaller?

I always assumed it was based on file size. Bigger files need more bonus to make them free.
I doubt there's a way to make it smaller.

No, I think that is not true. If you see there are larger files with less seed bonus required and the other way round.

"It is the product of size and duration. 1 GB for 24 hours needs 200 points. 2 GB for 24 hours needs 400 points, or 2 GB for 48 hours needs 800 points.
Points needed = 200 points * size in GB * duration in days
