      Hi guys,

HHSQ, some people may relate them both together and you don't as your own personal opinion with regards to God, religion and being Gay (Homosexual). Some other's may have issues or have had issue's in the past reconciling their sexuality with their faith & or lack of faith, or too strong a faith where they have been or has been detrimental to them in ways of both their faith and sexuality, but not always their faith in God or how they act, worship who ever that or their "God" is.

The Catholic church is a perfect example of that, and their safe schools for young male or female children as in boarding schools / orphanages, where vulnerable children & people have been in their care and it has been abused, either as a straight sexual outlet ( as in any holes a goal / or repressed homosexuality or vulnerable paedophiles which the "Church" if you can call it that, has been unaware of the issues with these persons either recruited as novices or as full ordained priests/ nuns, then they have a duty of care to their wards.

Do I believe in 'God' as most modern religions define him? snickers No. Especially as no two sects of Christianity can even agree on 'God'.

Do I believe in a Divine Presence, by whatever name you choose to label it? That I definitely do. I also see no reason for a priest, minister, rabbi, etc to tell me how to worship the Divine. How I interact with the Divine is up to me.

I'm not agnostic or an atheist, instead I'm more of a spiritual eclectic pagan as far as my path goes.

And I'll also say this as regards organized religion smirks the majority of organized religion started out as 1) a way to explain what people did not understand and 2) a way to ensure the survival of the tribe. Look at the laws in Judeo-Christian-Muslim faiths, all of which share a common core root, and consider them in a culture which at the time did not have the scientific knowledge and understanding that we do today. How many of those laws are designed to protect the tribe as a whole and preserve life? Just something to consider.

The point is: should I be straight god wouldn't automatically start to exist. It doesn't matter if I'm gay or not, I don't belive in fairy tales either way. Being gay only helped to realise religion was stupid, but it was only it, a small help.

Without a doubt I believe in God. The Bible says he created all. That includes gays. Consider what the world population would be today if God had made all gays heterosexual breeders!!! not only did he make us..he had a plan for us!

Haha that's an interesting way to see it!  😄

I believe in God too, although I must admit I struggled a lot when I was first sure that I was gay and "different"…

The hardest part would be to hear your favourite pastors, teachers, and people around you saying how being homosexual is a sin... Everytime I cringed a bit when they mentioned that although I didn't do anything wrong  :cry2:

Of course I believe in God! All these weird anti-gay stuff are human creations, not God's! He loves us all, so he is not considering us sinners. This is what humans say, not God's words.

I do not. I also think most religions do more harm than good in the world.

first i really wanna thank you for for posting this interesting question ? i hope you will read everything i wrote :  im just gonna tell you my believe on this im 24 years old guy, i live in middle east, im christian ive always had that wonderful relationship with god until i knew or actually faced my fears and conflicts about my sexuality cause deep down ive always knew that i have something for men but i never wanted to admit it.anyways that's not the subject but when i did face all of that i decided to get away from god for a period time just for the sake of being honest with myself and god, i didn't want any more conflicts or issues so i thought back then that its best way to deal with the whole issue, cause if i wanted to keep my life as it is with me having fun and sleeping with boys i would be a Hypocrite or double-faced and that is not true or way of living so after i had all what i wanted it turned out that no matter what god will always love you and no matter what you will always be his son, and he created you that way and god created the whole universe and he's capable of understanding and creating all of these magnificent stuff and living beings and he cant understand or accept the idea that you are gay!!!! that doesn't make any sense i think that homophobia comes from culture and the church but it does not come from god!!!! if anyone brings the story of sodom and gomorrah that god doomed people over their because of homosexuality that's totally wrong, they were full of sin, girls used to sleep with their fathers and bring children and many more stories so homosexuality was not that main issue.
god's love have no limits its purely unconditional love. believe in that only
just be a good son of god, pray , only do good , and try to stick with one guy and respect your body and i believe god will bless you for that … i hope you will read everything i said because its out of a personal experience and i hope it might be useful for you or at least inspiring.... thanks for reading... regards from jordan

                          I really don't understand your question…
What's the relation between fucking guys and believing God exist?!!!
Sure most religion are against impure act like fucking in the ass yet what does this have anything to do with  one's beliefs???
Let's say I'm gay and yet I pray.. it means I know I might burn in hell , but why would that makes me think there is no god ?...
your sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with your personals beliefs. Unless you are a coward that choose not to believe because otherwise that would mean you are a sinner...
It would be as dumb as not voting in an election for someone you know is gonna make changes for the whole society in good way but because in your own personal little life it would meant like paying more tax for you so you dont vote for him.. That would be dumb and irresponsible and selfish. you can be gay and catholic, knowing you are a sinner and still believe god exist...
Or you could be straight and atheist like most people in advanced societies.. No relation at all ..
That's my polite way of saying your question is dumb , sorry.  😄

There is no God. I'm one of Brights and I don't believe in any unscientific or paranormal stuff like that.

I don't think there is any relation, but being gay did help me to formulate my religious views (I don't believe in a God).

When I was in my teenage years, my catholic church tried to convert me towards the 'Godly path', and knowing that I could never change, I sought science and objectivity as hallmarks to the way I live. At the end of the day, I'm thankful to the church for 'opening my eyes', lol.

Btw, I'm from Malaysia, a Muslim majority country… Religion can be quite divisive (politically & socially) here... I don't like that  :-[

Yes, being gay does not colide with the fact I'm catholic, I never felt any trouble on that regard, even if you read the bible the only place homosexuality is something it's againts of is the Apocalypse so no, I don't, anyhow, we'll see where they send me to…  :cool2:

I'm serious, I don't, I love my boyfriend, he loves me back, this is not out of sex or lust, so, yes, I feel ok. So does he, he is reaaaaally serious abou the whole Roman Catholic faith, he goes to church, prays, etc, fortunately he does not put any pressure on me to do the same. It's his faith, something private which I respect.

Firstly I consider all religions to be little more than 'Clubs' with rules, if you want to belong to the club you 'largely' abide by the rules. I have no respect for anything which requires 'blind faith' as the main requirement for it's existence. All religious documents purporting to be evidence of the actions of a supreme intelligence acting on Earth in my opinion are little more than historical documents giving accounts of events which have by and large been distorted through the retelling and embellished by religions whose main function throughout history has been to oppress, control and demonstrate a do as I say, not as do approach. If there is a hell then we are by and large safe since it is probably overflowing with so called religious people. Most people as they get older find religion like a drowning person clutching at fragile flotsam and jetsom. I have decided that I'm getting too old to have imaginary friends. In reality if God exists or existed then by definition if you look at the criteria he must have been or be a a more intelligent alien or more likely a race of aliens. I even have a problem with that since when you look at the constraints of interfacing our fragile bodies with the physics required to travel vast distances it's very unlikely. Just enjoy life as your a long time dead and be yourself. To believe that even f god existed he/it would condemn you to hell or a life of BDSM (hmmmmm) just for being gay, not having your foreskin, mutilated, not performing strange rituals which have very earth bound origins is ludicrous to the extreme.

Personally I don't believe in god, but I don't think believing in god and being gay are related at all. In what way are they related? If there was a god, I imagine that they created humans, therefore meant for some people to be gay etc. might go against major religions, but they were written by men (yes men not god or angels) a long time ago, and times have changed.

I know I'm gonna get chewed out for this but all religious books are actually works of fiction. They are meant to be a guideline as to how we should live our life. We should accept only the message of tolerance that these books teach us. It is people who make these religious books their weapons for world domination.
