The saying "a gay guy can tell if the other guy is gay or not"
-
Gaydar, Hell yeah! Granted each person is different, but if ya let the person you think is gay know they can trust ya, chances are they'll tell ya eventually. Don't abuse that though
-
After knowing a guy for some time (…which can vary, depending on how hard a guy may be trying to hide his sexuality, or not), I can usually tell whether he has the inclination to have sex with another guy or not. Now, whether or not that guy is ready, or willing, to admit that to himself… is another story entirely.
Case in point: I knew a guy on my job several years ago who went out of his way to present himself as a ladies man, but I suspected his performance was a front. He would blatantly deny any allegations of being the least bit gay (…even when no one was asking, lol). Long story short, several years later, I found his web accounts on several well known sex sites (XTube, Vine, Chaturbate, Tumblr) that dated back to the time that we worked together, with videos of him masturbating, and lusting after other males (no women anywhere on his list of "favorites" or stated interests, just lots of young guys jerking off and fucking). It was also clear by the videos on his favorites list that he had a big sperm fetish in particular, lol. He thought he was being anonymous on these websites that I found him on, but there were other indicators, that he overlooked, that gave away his identity (…to anyone that knew a few critical details about him beforehand), despite the fact he was always careful not to show his face. Still, I was able to identify him (…and his true nature), with 100% certainty. The man was NOT str8, and I detected this despite his denials, and long before coming across any critical evidence that supported my suspicions.
That's just one example, there have been many others in my experience. Ironically, it's usually some GOOD trait that tips me off that a guy may be gay. Too bad so many men (who may otherwise appear to be heterosexual) are ashamed of their attraction to other men. I blame the lack of positive, masculine, gay role models in the media, and the way homosexuality is still generally frowned upon in modern society, despite the incredible progress that has been made regarding LGBT issues in recent years.
Bottom line in my opinion, being able to tell if another guy is gay or not serves little purpose if the guy is Hell-bent on being in denial (…even if he secretly knows that he loves COCK).

My gaydar is a total failure, it's kinda
"oh, that guy's hot, I want him to be gay, he just must be gay".But I can tell some, when they do things like me, which I just don't know how to explain
-
I think everyone is gay lol, just a little bit bisexual. Sexuality is fluid :police:

Sexuality is fluid to an extent , not everyone fluctuates , there are some that are at either end ( Homo Hetero) that will not budge
someone above mentioned Effeminate men , you cant base someone's sexuality purely on this as you're drawing on negative stereotyping and culturally enforced norms that say to be a man you must be X not y or Z , same goes for Masculinity
the best test is asking someone "are you gay ?, if they say "Yes" , then their gay !

Agreed. But if they say "No", it could still go either way (…which is why that is a question I'd never ask anyone. Actually, it's a question I never have asked anyone).

Ditto buddy i whole heartedly agree , if a person wants to tell me , they will.
as for the question , i have asked it many a time , but this is in the surrounds of my Job as a counsellor , someone i met out , i would never ask it.

I heard about this as well, but I can't tell whether a man is gay or straight. Guess I don't have such a thing called gaydar…
But I heard women can pinpoint gays better. Not really sure how do they know that... -
But I heard women can pinpoint gays better.
I'd say that's highly debatable, with the high number of women I have that hit on me constantly - everywhere I go. Just leaves me scratching my head and thinking to myself "…these ladies are so barking up the wrong tree!". Then that "Hell hath no fury…" phenomenon kicks in. It even puzzles me when I hear straight guys complaining about not being able to get chicks. For me, I can't go to the supermarket without at least 3 or 4 women trying to get my attention. Whatever 'it" is that they're being drawn by, just too bad it doesn't work with the type of guys I'm into on more of a consistent basis.

No, unless you are around fenime stereotypical gay guys, you cannot tell who is gay or not other than asking them and them being honest about it. Most gay guys who aren't on the scene (but out of the closet) such as myself are straight acting. Also there are no music/movie preferences that can tell for sure that a guy is gay even if they listen to fucking 1D and most gay guys listen to the "straight" music, so that's a dead end too.
However if you have sex with guy, it's easy to tell if they are gay or not. Gay guys will be passionate and involved and it's easy to tell whenever somebody is genuinely enjoying to do it with you or they are in just for the money. Besides, unless if you are actually paying them a rate in hundreds of the dollars for the sex, you probably won't ever have this problem. Gay for pay tends to not be that dedicated and involved, nor willing to go in relationship with you to eventualy benefit for it. They are typical man prostitutes, they will only do it with you after you pay them. This is a huge blessing we gays have, that straight couples don't: Nearly no money sluts and the ones that are out there are obvious: They will charge you money to have sex with you.

I don't ever have this problem, like most guys don't. You must be really handsome.

My gaydar is much more of the type "he's looking at me like he's interested. He must be gay". And, really, this is the only kind of gaydar you need. For every other thing in your life, whether or not the other guy is gay is meaningless. If he's not into you, why bother? He must as well be straight.
And as for the people who don't believe straight guys exist… this is pure wishful thinking. Sure, there are a lot of bisexuals, but most people are just straight or just gay. At least that's my experience in a country where people are more or less open about what they like.

my gaydar went online when i was 23. to say the least it was a profound epiphany. it IS true you can see/sense gay men from a mere glance and may be able to confirm after a short conversation. for me its always in the eyes. there is some sort of lively sparkle in their eyes that i see/sense that cant explain and yet i would know. the voice can be concealed and some gay men do have really deep manly voices so that only comes in second. more butch gays cannot be detected by the way they speak. fashion and grooming is dead giveaway most of the time if the guy has an overwhelming attachment to brand, current style, and colors. butch gays however stick to butch clothing which is somehow sneaky. body language and demeanor is a good indicator. most outwardly gay men are obvious at this. as usual butch gays are harder to detect.
oh and there's this: http://hartzprod.tumblr.com/post/128520063166/momofficial-lacomeobejas
the best way to know. you're welcome. ;D -
Yours isn't broken you just haven't had enough experience to understand what it is your looking for.
The signs are not obvious until you know them.
Like a straight guy will openly look at another guy while a gay guy will turn his head so he isn't seen to be staring -
Given enough interaction, you will always be able to tell.
The thing is that there isn't some hard ad fast set of rules. "Gay guy's do this and straight guys do this" will just get you in trouble. Just pay attention and most importantly, trust your instincts! Reading people is a natural human instinct. If you really struggle with this, I would suggest reading a good body language book. Its interesting you will should be better and picking up on subtle cues of attraction and flirtation. If someone is presenting them at guys…
A lot of the stereotypical "camp"/ effeminate characteristics are actually just overt flirtation actions. "open wris movements" etc.

I doubt there's that gaydar thing. You can assume a feminized guy is gay, but there are many guys who are acting completely straight and are gay as an rainbow. (Yes rainbows are gay :rotfl: )
-
It's hard to know because if a guy is in the closet and rejects you, how would you really know? Your gaydar might be telling you he is gay but if he isn't interested in you and doesn't admit to being gay, there's no way to know. I tend to think sexuality is sort of fluid anyway, so it's kind of pointless to try to figure out someones sexuality. Either they are interested in you or they aren't. Doesn't really matter if they are gay, straight, or bi.

There is definitely such a thing as a gaydar, and some people are better at it than others. Sometimes the clues are very obvious and you can even consciously break them down, other times it's a subtle "poke" you get in your gut that tells you the guy is gay.
