      I think it depends on what you consider the "cutoff point" to be on the Kinsey scale. Also, I think men feel more comfortable exploring their sexuality than they did a few years ago, at least in the US.  :closet:

        @unknown69:

        Its only 10%, if it was 30% it wouldn't be so hard to find someone to do stuff with you

        Agreed!

          I think it's a bit over the top, but there's a lot of closeted gays that's for sure 😉

            It depends on where you are. Big cities tend to atract gay people… at the same time gay people tend to be out more easily in big cities. I've read that within the general population there's an average of 10% of LGBTQ people, whereas in bigger citites that proportion can be as high as 1 in every 5 people.

              Rural areas tend to be a hard place for gay people.

                    My take on this is… like kinsey studied most have a non fix sexuality, so i'd say the major part do is bi... due to repression etc most feel straight, with the occasional "experience" i'd say that the percentile of exclusive fix gay people being 10% is average... now if you ask the percentile for homossexualy atracted then I'd go all the way up to 30- 40 % because you need to include bi and pan and the Spectre of possible trans... I find amusing that people mostly act like bis are a minority in a minority when most likely they are the norm. #everyonelies  :freehug:

                      @Illabey:

                      i heard that 3 in every 10 males are gay … and its rising in numbers. is the world turning gay?

                      I don't think the figure is that high. It's probably closer to up to 10% (but probably not more).

                        Kinsey Scale…. 🙂 I agree with the idea that every male has a varying degree of "homosexuality" and "heterosexuality" (can include: actual homosexual encounters, erotic butt slapping, ect.).

                        To address the thread....I learned it was closer to 7% from recorded statistics.....but then again, no statistic is completely accurate. Some guys could have lied, some gay guys may have been looked over, some may not be comfortable revealing to everyone about their sexuality (therefore telling everyone they're "strait").....but 30% sounds really high to me.  😕

                          It could be biological fact, though. But when the heterosexualism comes into account, the percentage is much smaller. Some are closeted. Some enjoy being bisexual. Some are raised to be straight without even doubt their sexuality.

                            I think that in an open society many people (more open than all our different societies) might be more open to bisexuality but I would not call that gay.

                            5 to 10% is fitting for our societies.

                              I've always heard around 10%. But if you were to count people that have had gay experiences without identifying as being gay I think you could easily get to 30% or higher.

                                10% is quite low…

                                      Kinsey research in the 50's concluded that 1 in ten are gay (Exclusively gay that is) but modern research says around 2 percent of the population are gay! My belief is that when you consider bi and guys who experiment etc the stats would be up to 50 percent. And i should know I did a fairly long stint in prison!

                                            @costing:

                                            10% is quite low…

                                            Actually, as someone mentioned above, the present-day estimates are around 2% are gay.  This would be my the Kinsey Rating a 6, completely homosexual – or to be more exact within the United States:

                                            "Based on the 2013 NHIS data [collected in 2013 from 34,557 adults aged 18 and over], 96.6% of adults identified as straight, 1.6% identified as gay or lesbian, and 0.7% identified as bisexual. The remaining 1.1% of adults identified as “something else” [0.2%,] stated “I don’t know the answer” [0.4%] or refused to provide an answer [0.6%]."

                                            There is, however, something that isn't often mentioned with bisexuals and that is which way they "lean".  Most seem to have a preference of men or women.

                                            This is important depending what type of relationship you do want with a bisexual.  Those bis who lean toward woman can enjoy physical sex with a man, but as far as intimate emotional relationships (love), those are solely with women.  The reverse is true with bis who lean toward men, with them being able to enjoy physical sex with both men and women, but there intimate emotional relationships are with men.

                                            There to seem to be some bis who are right down the middle and can form both physical and intimate personal relationships with men and women, but they seem really rare.

                                            I've read a lot about this (I read a lot about everything for many decades) and am constantly asking people questions about themselves to learn more.

                                            Of course, this IS in the United States.  It might be the same or more or less in other parts of the world, but if you accept the idea that being gay is likely or mostly genetic, it is likely the percentages would be very similar elsewhere on our planet.

                                            It sure does make it difficult to find a date way, way too often.    :cry2:
