Just wondering, but you are in the United Kingdom and the Supreme Court upheld marriage for gays, why do you care about "The States"?

YEP, that's right, we now have our Constitutional crisis requiring the US Supreme Court to rule on marriage equality.
In the 2-1 decision, they said that courts, judges and lawyers shouldn't be the heroes of the gay civil rights movement, but that individual people should be the heroes. The also said that the civil rights process needs to follow the traditional path of going their the government, not the courts.
Of course they ignored the countless civil rights cases that have been settled throughout US history.
It's just sad that we are going to see a challenge in any event. It has been so refreshing to watch the Courts of Appeal strike down the cases one by one. But now to see this happen. I guess I always knew that there would be ONE case that would definitely make it to the SCOTUS. I just want marriage equality for all in our country.

Wow what an ignorant comment. We have enough people who don't care about us. We don't need more indifference or at the very least, lack of compassion from people in the same community (which itself is a dubious term).

I certainly would like whatever everyone is on, when they say there's no gay marriage in the U.S. since it's legal in 35 states and you couldn't pay me to live in the states where it's not, so just move to a state where it's legal. Besides, I don't know why anyone would want to live anywhere that isn't on the west coast. -

The difference is in our perspective. My attributes and orientation do not define me, they are part of me. I'm a person first. I don't always agree with everything just because gay people want or endorse it. It has to fit every aspect of me. I find it interesting bringing up ignorance in that the people here that don't want to be judged are calling Christians idiots for following a book of fairy tales. Christians are judging gay people. Why are you behave just like your persecutors. Just work towards what you want and don't waste your energy on them.

Ok that's fine, but that wasn't the intent of your original post. If you would have said this in the beginning I would have respected that. However, in your original post, you questioned his decision to "care" about people that didn't belong in the same country as him, which implies that it is abnormal to show compassion towards the plight of others.

It is not abnormal to show compassion toward others. I have neither the time nor the energy to point out all the injustices in this world; there are enough in my own "backyard" so to speak. When I asked why he cared, it wasn't about compassion that prompted me but about interest. I have vested interests in my causes. I don't have any vested interests outside my country unless I was to donate to Doctors Without Borders or The Peace Corps. I was curious if he had a vested interest in the States even though he is in the UK. I just would like to know more people efforts toward equality they seek.
