      @mirko69:

      @tigerrawr:

Losing weight is ALL ABOU CALORIE CONSUMPTION VS CALORIE BURNING

      Thats not true …
Look at paralyzed people, some are fat and others are thin  :crazy2:

Some foods (or combination of those) can make you hungrier and some don't ...
      Food is Rocket science

Well different people have different metabolisms.  I as an ectomorph won't gain weight even if I sit stil land eat junk whereas my boyfriend an endomorph gains weight eating less then me AND doing more.

I have a higher daily requirement then others.

You can even lose weight eating ONLY cheeseburgers, IF you keep it to say under 2000cal

Cheeseburgers are fast carbs sugars and fat so it will burn faster, meaning you will WANT MORE = eat more = gain weight.

Oat meal, vegetables, cottage cheese are slow carbs and proteins, and will make you stuffed longer = eat less = losing weight.

In the end It's all about daily caolories eaten vs daily caolories burned recomended for YOUR BODY TYPE (genes)

One thing that can alter or hinder your metabloism are drugs, like caffeine and cocaine which will boost it,  and some antidepressants like seruquel which will slow it.  But it's still about EAT VS BURN

            agree

            Agree with what?

You guys wanna discuss something or just throw a ball back and forth? 😛  :ghug:

            k to sum up:

sweet potato is not technically a diet food… cellery would be better for example.

But it's great to have IN your diet, as it's a nice and clean source of carbs and antioxidants, especially the orange beta carotene which makes ur skin look great.

I've never heard of a "sweet potato diet".

However, replacing regular potatoes with sweet potatoes is healthier and has a lot less carbs.

Wrong, normal potatos have 15% carbs, sweet potatos have about 17-18%

                Because they are sweet.

Not that it makes a huge difference tho. But as you said they are much much more healthy.  Normal potatoes don't have much going for them.

I never liked sweet potatoes though, but in Taiwan they are easier to find than regular potatoes. I guess I just like the neutral flavor profile of regular potato… however by itself (no ketchups, etc.) Sweet potatoes do taste better, however I would go nuts eating ONLY that (and you will, because your body will suffer).

If eating with meat then I just can't imagine eating sweet potatoes with that...

One nice thing about sweet potato is you can eat their leaves/stem. I don't know how healthy they are compared to the tuber but it tastes pretty good. DO NOT eat regular potato's leaves and stems because they are poisonous.

Never tried the leaves and stems but I love sweet potatoes.

A sweet potato has tons more nutrients than a plain potato. Calorie count is higher but you get much more major vitamins and minerals with a sweet potato.

The starch content is also much lower as well as a much lower starch to carb to sugar conversion ratio. Many diabetics eat sweet potatoes because it doesn't cause a spike in their sugar levels. My mom was a diabetic for 24 years and the only potato she could eat were sweet potatoes.

Also because a potato is a complex carb it takes much more energy to break it down.

Want to through your metabolism into overdrive?
Take a couple of nice size sweet potatoes and bake them.
Cut the potatoes into 3oz or 4 oz servings and wrap in plastic wrap.
Then every 3 hours eat one of the small servings. You have to time it exactly 3 hours.
Do this your entire waking hours.
Do it for 3 days and see what effect it has on you.
By day four you will most likely feel hungry all the time because your metabolism has gone nuts. Just remember to feed yourself something in moderate amounts every 3 or 4 hours to keep the metabolism going strong.

One of the side effects of having a high metabolism is the hunger.
No faster than you eat and just a short while later your starving again.
