@groovedware: Someone left a cake out in the rain and I don't think that I can take it cause it took so long to bake it and I'll never forget being asked to play that monster in the first bar I worked in.  I may have taken a lot of hallucinogens back then but I knew that was some weird shit and I remember asking my boss (from where the request came)what she was going on about. "MacArthur Park" was written and composed by Jimmy Webb in the summer and fall of 1967. The inspiration for the song was his relationship and breakup with Susie Horton, who later married David Ronstadt, a cousin of singer Linda Ronstadt. MacArthur Park, in Los Angeles, California, was where the two occasionally met for lunch and spent their most enjoyable times together. At that time (the middle of 1965), Horton worked for a life insurance company whose offices were located just across the street from the park. In an interview with Newsday magazine in October 2014, Webb explained: Everything in the song was visible. There's nothing in it that's fabricated. The old men playing checkers by the trees, the cake that was left out in the rain, all of the things that are talked about in the song are things I actually saw. And so it's a kind of musical collage of this whole love affair that kind of went down in MacArthur Park. … Back then, I was kind of like an emotional machine, like whatever was going on inside me would bubble out of the piano and onto paper."

@explode: Is there anything else that sounds like this? Looking for a whole album that's similar, not just songs that are in the same vein. portishead ????    well since MFTJG is  pretty much old school rave being that its 94 you need to look for  breakbeat which was huge in the rave scene both in Australia and the UK   i would start with the label Suburban base , then try 2 bad mice , Acen's style  is exactly like that album here >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3p9m9h1bcw

@XFER: I was fooled into thinking he sang a song called "Safe With Me" which is really cool, but it seems it's from another singer called Sam Smith As for the real one, I don't like his music, and just like with Adele, I do NOT see how he is popular. I think his songs are weak and boring. I love slow music, but these songs simply weren't made for me. I might like his album if he had some edge on the songs, but it's all the same. say, have you ever had your heart broken?  What makes Sam's and Adele's songs extremely relatable and awe-inspiring is that their songs represent the journey of anyone trying to find the love of their life. Their songs are about heartache that beautifully describe their listeners' own pain as well. This is why for so many of us these songs hit close to home

Couldn't care less about her music, but I have enormous respect for her. She might not be the most talented around, but she's very honest and doesn't fake songwriting or producing credits like most pop singers do nowadays.

I adore him, but mostly for his music, as I don't find him particularly handsome. Too Bright was an amazing record, in fact, my top 5 of 2014 was: 5.- Idan Haviv - Leabed Inyan Bazman 4.- Morning Musume '14 - 14 Shou The Message 3.- Tori Amos - Unrepentant Geraldines 2.- Perfume Genius - Too Bright 1.- Anthony Neely - Friends But if you count Anthony's album, he released in in 2013, so Mike would take first place. The last three song on the album are the climax of his career so far. I'm a Mother is so perfect!!

i've been a huge fan of madonna for years (since 1993), travelling around europe to see her in concert and that sort of stuff. however, she has just been disappointing the last couple of years. she hasn't made a decent album since confessions, and not a forward-thinking, inspiring one since music. rebel heart - in my opinion - is just terrible. maybe even worse than mdna. i have decided that i will forever love her for what she has achieved artistically in the past and for what she stood for in the 80s and 90s but that i won't consider myself a fan anymore. however, i think she can live with that
