I agree.
I've seen the Stallone movie and I think this is not only homophobia but a reproduction of the straight-patriarhcal totem adored by our so called "western" civilization…. I regret I am not so practical in writing in English becouse I think it could be a very interesting point, indeed.
We all know there is a peculiar fetish we have as porn viewers: the "gay for pay" or the movies featuring so called straight boys having sex with the gay ones (usually topping them: if it does make sense for you, that's what I mean with "straight-patriarcal totem"): it's a cultural combination of macho stereotypes strongly promoted by the straigh-male dominant culture. There are so many layers here...!
I guess Pepin's case it's a case of self-repressed homophobia and it doesn't sound strange to me: we should start considering that as a social issue too (well, not here, by the way, even though I really appreciate to discuss about this kind of topic!)
As far as you know, are there studies or books or essaies that deal with this kind of topic?
It could be interesting to have a sort of bibliography uploaded here to share.
In case we could open another topic and do a sort of "call for papers"....
