Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in Greece may face legal and social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents.

Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Greece.

Households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples.

if greece is anything like brazil it doesn't matter what the law says because there's little policing and respect to law

technically gay men can serve in military in brazil but they will kick you out as soon as you come out of the closet… same thing for enlisting... brazil has conscription and many of my high school friends would mark "homosexual" under their sexual orientation field in their forms to be exempt from military service

Will they not be negatively distinguished in that way?

jbo1 I don't know if I understood your comment but I am from Brazil and I'm gay. It sucks that we are forced to enlist in the military, but for me it was super normal, they treated me like everybody else, I don't even felt weird being naked in front of them haha in the end it was kinda funny  ;D

maybe it's different depending on the area you live in but from my experience they usually decline lgbt applicants first. they'll most likely treat you like anybody else but will most likely not accept you in the army. i think it's a similar kind of discrimination experienced by lgbt greeks.

Here in Brazil we don't need to worry about the enlistment because like you only stay there if you say you want it. There are too many people that really want to serve so most of it are dispensed (gay or not). But yes, before going there I was super scared from what I heard, but it was nothing like they said.

Greece has light years to cover in order to be considered a gay friendly place.
Not even make out scenes between men or women are allowed on Greek tv!
