I'm also sorry to report that, probably as part of the recent change, there has been a change to the "pop-up comments" in the "old" Search page which has broken it in my browser.

The comments often do not pop up at all, and when they do, they vanish again quickly, sometimes, before one has a chance to read them.

It was flaky, but working, heretofore.  I notice also that the font and display of these comments has changed to one which is a little harder to read.

Incidentally, I said in my last feedback comment that perhaps the picture-browser would be useful to identify a particular face from a studio, but I see now that there's no option to filter the pictures by a keyword–one can only filter by the broad fixed categories (assuming that works).

I wish I had something more complimentary to say, but it really looks to me that this was more an exercise or etude for someone seeing if he could make an interface than an effort to make a gaytor.rent visitor's experience, looking for entertainment, any better.  As an exercise or school assignment, I think it's deserving of praise, but I really don't think it's useful or helpful or even comfortable enough to use from time to time for a change of pace.

Your earlier request to have the wishlist function on the torrent page had well been noted and likely to be implemented when the next time the torrent page is touched. That wishlist function on the torrent page becomes useful when finding a torrent via the picture browsing, too.

        @OnlyMe:

        ….
Furthermore I was just voicing my opinion as requested in the first post.  No need to get snappy.
        Have a nice weekend!

I don't think to have been snappy, but just like to understand why many members ask to have the possibility to disable an additional function offered, rather than just not using it. You haven't answered that question in your reply. 😞

I like it as an additional feature.
I prefer the original, but I can see myself check out this new one periodically.
It does work well with my large monitor. I can quickly peruse the images to see if I may have missed something of interest.

saw it last night. wasn't really a fan. First the search bar was missing in picture browser so that threw me off. but then i saw that we can switch to the regular browser look. the picture browser is cool but I'm just used to searching for adult performers names and I would like to get a better idea of the recent uploads featuring them. Also some of the content with photos like fisting, water sports or scat are gross so I am NOT interested to gettig glimpses of those images. Still love the site! Hope you input is helpful.

anybody else experience problems on the "search" page since the changes?

would it be helpful to have also a "search field" ? i guess yes

we find better ways for categorizing our pictures with the kind help of our users soon to have pics like "scat" set on "explicit?!?"

new picture browser is horrible (at least for me)
It makes it very difficult to find what one is looking for.

Old browsing system is much better for me.
It would be nice if you provide a choice in the profile settings t choose old or new one
                thank you for your efforts

This is the internet, easier to spend a minute to drop a complaint than to read a page or 2 of responses.

Anyways, the new images layout is interesting however.

                    1. Would like to make thumbnails bigger, currently they are a bit too small. ***
                    2. Delineation between torrents
                    3. Ability for the torrent maker to select primary image. Community can also pick/vote a primary image. ***
                    4. Ability to see multiple images in a torrent on hover (such as how search does for mousing over title) ***
                    5. Show file name/title with image

An idea would be to have various boxes with small margins/borders setup, each with the truncated title across a single line and an image under it. When moused over, it shows the other images (like current system).
Also image size options, such as small (current thumbnail size), medium and large. These thumbnails would be based on the image width as to keep the flow of things.

*** Items would make the largest impact of usability for me.

"The box said 'Requires Windows XP or better'. So I installed LINUX…"

I really, really like the idea. I am one of those that depend more on the pics to make my decisions.  I just think if there were less pics per page it would really help.  While it does take a bit longer to load, that wasn't my concern.  It was the fact that there were soooooo many pics that just looked like they were piled on top of each other.  If there was more of a distinction between them, I would probably use it as a permanent search tool.

One thing I find interesting is that it does output a mixture of new and old torrents. If everyone sees the same output, this is cool as it refreshes old torrents. IE, every odd column is a list of torrents older than 6 months.

However if the image output is random, that maybe a problem as I would be downloading old torrents (possibly dead) that most likely won't seed for a long while. IE, kill my ratio.

Really like the picture browser.  I have found more than a few movies to download (non-porn, gay-themed movies).  I would like to ask that the "spinny" things (image loading graphic) be eliminated.  They actually provoked a migraine after about five pages of browsing.

What was it that motivated the work to create this "browse-by-image" interface?

I mean, what was it intended to do that the Search interface wasn't doing?

I'm still unable to think of a situation where it might be a more helpful way of reviewing what's presently offered, what's new, etc.

i have one suggestion. make the tooltip disappear when the mouse is outside of the photo grid. the way it behaves now, the textbox can show on top of the images while you are scrolling, covering some images…

also it would be nice to have the slideshow buttons on these previews too  😉

i like it def - its cool for the visual hunter types - i always check the images on an upload b4 i go into the page so this really shortcuts that process.
But on first lookie would like some indication of what order the images are loading - is it based on most recently uploaded or what ? do i have any control over the display order and if so i cant see immediately any obvious buttons so im a bit in the dark…..

                                  so requests:

change the menu bar from 'browser' to 'picture browser'
and some indication of order in which images are loading - or even control - eg by date uploaded as its not clear and SA feedback suggests its loading randomly which has its uses but isnt as useful as loading by date uploaded or theme etc

but great addition for those who hunt via images anyway….......

BIG THUMB UP - to the tumblr styleee new browse feature

Some answers to the functionality at the moment of writing this:

                                    • By default, the display of pictures is of random torrents, supposed to be one picture by torrent
                                      • Display of pictures can be selected to be from some categories only
                                      • Display of pictures can be selected to be by date/time descending by checking "[  ]  Sort by latest torrent first". Then all pictures of a torrent will be shown (this is likely to be changed)

Is it possible to have the same sort features as the search page instead of just a choice between random, or Most recent?
I find a sort by seed/sort by leech and times snatched more useful that just simply most recently uploaded?

the filter options get extended.. while trying to optimize the database queries to get some better speed.
more sort orders and also a search field will be added like on regular torrent search

i was wondering when people ask to change the menu. we thought about this quite a while. but picbrowser is somehow to long

Thanks for making this interface! As it is, it's not terribly useful to me, but I spent a couple of minutes playing around and think it has a lot of potential. Maximizing the usefulness of new UIs requires matching them to the way your users actually operate, so I'll share my MO here:

My usual MO on the regular search page is to use the combination of title, short description, and category –- all taken in in a few seconds while scrolling --- to identify torrents that are potentially promising, then scroll over the thumbnails to see the expanded images. If the torrent still looks promising at this point I open it up in the background for later perusal, as I continue to check out all the torrents new to the site. So the pic information is actually secondary, and I really expect to be able to see the torrents in chronological order so that I can catch up on the new torrents since I last visited.

As is, the PictureBrowser is not a better option than regular search for me because:

                                          1. it doesn't make it visually clear which pictures correspond to which torrent: I have to manually mouse over each image to separate them out --- you actually already provide most of the meta-information I want (except the size) in the mouse over, so all that's needed here is to visually separate the various torrents, e.g. by using a thick frame to outline the pics corresponding to one torrent. whitespace is the best tool!
                                          2. it doesn't seem to show all the latest content even when the "sort by latest torrent first" button is turned on; I see a lot of stuff from years ago very high up in the list.
                                          3. it's not clear how torrents are chosen to displayed : this is more of a psychological issue. If you used something definite and intuitive like peak number of seeders or amount of seedpoints, chosen to be reflective of the `desirability' of the torrent, and made this clear, I'd feel much less discomforted about allowing the PictureBrowser to guide me.

I imagine all three of these points are easily remedied.

I quite like the new concept of browsing by image. I agree that it would be easier to see the images if they were better organised with a small border and perhaps lined up. This would make it easier to scan.
Would it possible to add a couple more images with the description as one rolls over?
Also, it does take a while to load chunks of images. It looks like there's some sort of dynamic process to retrieve these images rather than pulling some preprocessed ones for faster download…
Otherwise, I love it. Thanks guys!    :thx:
