India is a home of Thousands of cultures, languages and art forms.Thousand year old traditions and art forms are still exist and practiced by Indians in present also.Tamasha (Folk Theater) is still more popular even than Movies in Maharashtra, one of the larger states on India.

This Movie is based on Tamasha (Folk Theatre) , Lavani (Folk Dance) and gender issues.

The Movie tells story set on the background of remote village,isolated from Modern World technology or Big Cities.
Guna Kagalkar (Atul Kulkarni), a poor village labourer, nurtures an obsession for Tamasha - a popular theatrical folk art form of Maharashtra. Unforeseen circumstances lead him to lose his job as labourer and lands him in situation where he sets up a theatre company along with his friend and mentor Pandba (Kishor Kadam). Guna is convinced that his troupe cannot take off unless it has a female dancer. After painstaking search, Pandba finds Naina (Sonalee Kulkarni), the daughter of his former lover Yamunabai (Priya Berde), who is willing to dance for the company on the condition that it has a "Nachya", a panzy character. As no one is willing to take up the role, due to the eunuch taboo, Guna takes it upon himself to play the character. The strongly-built Guna takes up the challenge of doing the role due to his passion for the art.

Despite lack of support from his family, Guna works hard to get the role right, and his play becomes successful in a very short while. However, due to their success, the play gets entangled in the power struggle between two local politicians who wish to use its success for political mileage. Meanwhile, Guna's father dies in his village, and his wife and son are subject to harassment from other villagers. Rival political gangs attack Guna's play and torch his theater. Guna is accused of being a eunuch and gang-raped. However, despite being rejected by his family and discouraged by his friends, Guna continues with his stage career, where he is joined only by Naina. It is implied that Guna and Naina marry, and that their play gathers national and international fame. The film ends with an aged Guna, now addressed as Gunvantrao Kagalkar wins the lifetime achievement award at a major awards ceremony.

The music by the hit duo Ajay-Atul is impressive.They used Folk art form "Lavani" beautifuly.

I Am is a film about four people from different levels of society. The film is basically divided into four stories with each individual confronting their inner fears and standing up to fight for what is right.

The first story centers around Afia (Nandita Das) who is the victim of a failed marriage that ends on a bitter note. She decides that she's not going to trust another man but is determined to get pregnant and bear a child. Afia wants to become a mother using a sperm donor. We see many taboos in this society relating to the idea of getting pregnant using a sperm donor. Luckily, she finds one in the form of a medical student (Purab Kohli). This story ends with Afia getting what she wanted. So nothing much to write about! Nandita Das performs her part with diligence. Purab Kohli holds much promise as an upcoming actor. The other characters are adequate.

The next story is about Megha (Juhi Chawla) who was an inhabitant of Srinagar but was forced to move to another city due to the turbulence of the terrorist attacks twenty years ago. After twenty years, she decides to go back to Srinagar on a business purpose. There, Megha stays at the house of her childhood friend Rubina (Manisha Koirala). Hardened by the crude realities of life in Kashmir, Megha becomes bitter and cynical. She confronts Rubina with the memories of her childhood which left a scar on her heart. We sympathize with Megha as she transcends from a sweet little girl into a bitter woman who wants to escape her past. A story that is truly moving and frighteningly realistic! Juhi Chawla and Manisha Koirala come up with proficient performances and look gorgeous too.

The third story revolves around Abhimanyu (Sanjay Suri) a well-to-do film director who is confused about his sexual orientation. Why? This we get to know in a while as we watch the movie. He was sexually abused by his step father when he was a child. Abhimanyu is helpless as he cannot tell his mom about his father and we sympathize with him too. The story ends with Abhimanyu telling his mom about his step father's evil secrets which is really heart touching! Sanjay Suri is excellent. This is his another mind-boggling performance after My Brother Nikhil. Radhika Apte as a modern outspoken friend of Suri's is okay. Shernaz Patel is equally competent as Suri's mother. Anurag Kashyap is first-rate.

The fourth and last story is about a homosexual guy Jai (Rahul Bose) who is brutally trapped into blackmailing and unwanted sex by a cruel and inhumane police officer (Abhimanyu Singh) while he was having sex with a male prostitute Omar (Arjun Mathur). This story is the most shocking from the rest as it deals with the dilemma of being gay and the price you have to pay for it. Rahul Bose is amazing! He's showing signs of improvement with every film he's doing. Bose's histrionics at finding out that he was cheated in the concluding reels are worth watching. Abhimanyu Singh is competent enough as he gets into the skin of his character very well. Arjun Mathur is good.

Director Onir's effort must be applauded as he decided to make an anthology film with donations from Facebook. The stories were truly moving and frighteningly realistic too.

Storyline

The Pink Mirror pits two Indian drag queens against a westernized gay teenager in a battle to woo a handsome hunk. It's a clash of the east and west. Who will win? The drag queens, who are expert in the art of seduction with their wit, innuendo and cunning or the young teenager who is saucy, slutty and sly? Underneath the campy humorous exterior, the film is an exploration of the Indian gay landscape and understanding of the deep, humanly tender bondings that exist between drag queens in India who form unique, non-patriarchal families. Using the Bollywood soap idiom of song, dance and drama and for the first time in the Indian drag queens' very own language, Hindi, the film also explores other veiled issues related to the Indian gay community: the lurking threat of HIV/AIDS.

Storyline

In 1995, Indian Government charged Bollywood superstar Milind Soman with 'obscenity' for appearing nude in a shoe advertisement.
Under the rhetoric of preserving nation's morality, these charges were carried-out using old colonial laws that are still evoked to restrict desire & persecute homosexuality in India today. Homosexuality is not a crime in India today but it is still a taboo.
Milind Soman Made Me Gay is a conceptual documentary about desire & notions of home & belonging. The film employs a unique mix of visual elements along with voice over narration to juxtapose memories of the filmmaker's own past against lives of three gay South Asian men living in the diaspora. Overshadowing these nostalgic explorations of life 'back home,' are harsh realities of homophobia & racism in USA.
