Trackers Offline
-
Hi - apologies if this was asked already but all of my trackers (gaytor.rent) are offline since yesterday - is there a site maintenance ongoing? Appreciate any insight - thanks!
-
My torrents are connecting fine for me. A staff member and other members can post here also to let you know for sure.
Have you tried stopping your torrent client, rebooting your computer and then restarting your torrent client? You are able to use your internet connection well for other things like surfing the internet and getting emails?
-
@Shepard69 - yes I rebooted my client and my laptop. I can browse the web and the site just fine. I am using uTorrent, if that helps.
-
Hmm, not sure what's going on then. Could be one of a few things, like something changed maybe in an update to your torrent client or system, a router problem possibly, did you make any type of settings changes recently with anything...?
How about trying this as a test:
Download another torrent client such as Deluge. Start that up with 1 torrent and see if it works and post back.

-
@Shepard69 - okay downloading Deluge now and will report back.

I'll have to leave to go to work in a bit, so if I'm not here and you don't have any success, someone else will help ya I'm sure. Good luck

I turned my VPN on and the trackers became alive so the issue may be on my end. The weird thing is I never used a VPN to download torrents before so maybe my provider is now throttling them, I dunno. If this is indeed the issue, maybe someone has recommendations for a good VPN, preferably free with unlimited bandwidth? (Yeah I know that's a dream.)

howdy, i think you jumped the gun, pal. before going straight to the VPN way you should first tell us what is the reported tracker status when you try to connect without a VPN. Why? The VPN could be a fix to various different problems, it's always best practice to identify the problem before trying to fix it.
-
@ianfontinell - hi! The gaytor.rent trackers are just saying "offline (timed out)" in uTorrent.
I was advised to try another client so I downloaded Deluge and tried one torrent - I got this error: "Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond"
Both of the above were done without VPN.
-
@rradj given the "timed out" status I suspect that this is not a deliberate attempt by your ISP to block your torrent traffic.
It sounds like a temporary routing issue, which unfortunately is something that only your ISP can fix, so the only recommendation is to keep using a VPN for the time being. Just make sure to try connecting directly every couple of days to see if it is resolved.
-
@rradj Hello, I'm having the same problem as you. I can access the site fine but the trackers are offline. What country are you from? I'm from the Philippines and I suspect that my ISP is blocking the trackers or something...
-
Same with me. torrent client shows status "Unreachable". From Philippines as well, under ISP that starts with C
-
definitely an ISP issue. i am with the same ISP C and have the same issue. I tried connecting to my mobile data just to try if the files would peer and they did
-
Check if you can connect to the backend maybe?
-
Yes same ISP C
️ Was there an announcement perhaps? This seems so specific… -
@rradj @frankdavao48 @clancytom it's all but confirmed. I'm also using C as my ISP. They most likely blocked the trackers. Unfortunately we can't do anything about it.
-
Non-Filippino here, my immediate curiosity about the situation is, if you called the customer support and asked about it, could you end up in trouble with the law?
i ask because, like i said in my previous response, if this is in fact a bad routing situation, it will affect all clients, that doesn't mean it is intentional. but it might as well be, the fastest way to know would be contacting the ISP directly, but depending on the country's laws it might not be a wise idea.
-
@ianfontinell It wouldn't necessarily get us in trouble with the law. Contacting the ISP just wouldn't do much regarding the issue as they most likely won't reverse it. The ISP we use has been blocking thousands of sites for years now specifically targeting adult sites and they've been praised for it. I found news that they just recently blocked over 72,000 domains linked to "prohibited content". Might be the culprit to our problem.

If you are caught torrenting copyrighted material, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) usually sends you a copyright infringement warning notice.
-
Also using the same ISP and experiencing the same problem. Issue is not specific to this tracker. Saw posts from other forums that the ISP is currently experiencing issues and they can't access other services like certain banking apps and other sites/servers.
