According to credible reports from El País and HuffPost España, on the evening of Tuesday, April 22, 2025, during the Bando de la Huerta festival in Murcia, Sáez visited a kebab shop named "Kebab La Merced 24h." After ordering food, he requested access to the restroom but was told it was closed. Sáez suspected this was a pretext, as such denials are common during festivals to prevent non-customers from using facilities. When he asked for the complaints book, a dispute ensued, during which he was subjected to homophobic slurs and physically assaulted by the owner and staff. The attack was recorded on video by a friend and has been reported to the police. Sáez sustained injuries to his hand, foot, and head and received medical attention.
