Yes your first infection or sustained exposure, whenever that was, gave you natural immunity. Maybe not perfect. But enough to lessen your next one.
Lots of people who get natural immunity, is how you reach "herd immunity".
Before covid, they called it "The Human Immune System" and taught it in Biology 101.
