      @blablarg18 said in USA military can't recruit:

      So - what's different or unique, to these last few years?

      Military recruitment has been decreasing ever since 1987. It's about a third lower now than the end of the 1980's.

      Even by the military's own evaluations, of the US population within the military's target 17-24 year old demographic, only about 23% of Americans would satisfy the current standards for military service (e.g., increases in obesity, decrease in physical abilities, etc.).

      And then you have to subtract from the above 23% all of the younger people with other disqualifications. For example, the military does not allow recruitment of persons with visible tattoos on the face, neck, or hands. The military doesn't allow recruitment of persons with criminal records, including drug use convictions.

      The military also does not recognize states' legalization of marijuana, meaning anyone who has smoked "legal" weed are disqualified. Also, the military considers legal medications for ADHD to be simulant usage that disqualifies a candidate.

      You also have the fact that probably a majority of young folks consider America to have recently lost a war, which historically has always resulted in a lowering of recruitment. Whether youngsters are right or wrong, the younger generations consider America to have lost the war in Afghanistan, especially with the way it was ended by the current and former Administrations. Additionally, years and years of the "No Blood for Oil" narrative because of the choices of the Bush Administration has undermined youngsters' view of the military as an institution.

      Conservatives have basically put the military into a "damned if you do; damned if you don't" situation. The military struggles to meet its recruitment goals, and the minute it reaches out (with targeted positive messaging) to new demographics (e.g., to the LGBT community, to women, to online influencers, to video gamers), the conservatives attack that outreach as "going woke."

      "Fuck you, faggot. Now hold this gun!" isn't a very winning campaign slogan to help recruit the gays.

        @hubrys

        The military gives waivers to people for all manner of things.

        My unit at Camp LeJuene had at least 3 convicted felons. My unit in Japan had at least 1, I don't know if my unit in Korea had any, but at Camp Pendleton we had several. These are the ones I knew about, so there could be more. Felonies and certain misdemeanors disqualify you from military service unless you get a waiver.

        Kids have gotten extremely soft; physically and mentally. They've been indoctrinated into hating their country, as well.

        It's the Democrats that have ruined the military. The limp-wristed sissies would never have joined anyway. Now with the woke shit, those that would normally join aren't.

        Biden turned the military into a woke shit show, which turns off LGBTs and normies alike. The only ones joining now are the freaks and those who want the taxpayer to fund their sex change.

            "Military recruitment has been decreasing ever since 1987" - And Woke, or USA white & conservative "military family" peeps being told to hate selves & hate USA, has been been growing ever since 1987.

            If it were possible to plot them on a chart - rise gradually over decades, then jump in last 4 years - they'd match up.

            "only about 23% of Americans would satisfy the current standards for military service (e.g., increases in obesity" - And you really don't see the connection to Woke?

            Hint: Destruction of standards & expectations. Destruction of the very concept. Expectations, standards & effort dismissed as "white supremacy".

            "military does not allow recruitment of persons with visible tattoos on the face, neck, or hands. The military doesn't allow recruitment of persons with criminal records" - It's not important but, just for record, you're making up crap. (see @raphjd comment)

            "the younger generations consider America to have lost the war in Afghanistan, especially with the way it was ended by the current and former Administrations" - NO. The way it was ended by CURRENT admin.

            It was ended in such a chaotic & disastrous way by ONE White House occupant, Biden.

            Trump's downsize plans were orderly. He would not allowed Taliban takeover, nor left behind billion$$ in equipment for transfer to Hamas. We know because he had a chance & didnt.

            "years and years of the "No Blood for Oil" narrative" - Mounted by who now? Be truthful. WOKE LIBS.

            What twists & turns happen in the labyrinth of your lies. I'd hate to know you IRL. Or not - I might find you entertaining.

              @raphjd "Covid vaccine not required" - I'd make a crack about what a drop in standards that is - except it prob means nothing, they prob still force vaxx on kids during intake.

                  @lololulu19 And - these last few years - USA Navy has had a higher rate of ship & plane crashes.

                  Again it's no coincidence. It's connected. Whole point of Woke is to replace competence, skill & standards with "Victim of the Week".

                    @blablarg18 off-topic a little..
                    But it seems to me that the USA does very poorly with huge losses in training exercises, and ships running into things.. not to mention losing to a load of illiterate farmers in Afghanistan...
                    YET.. when it comes to providing assistance to 3rd party countries, things work the way they are supposed to!

                        People who were given BCDs (Bad Conduct Discharges) for refusing the vaccine are being offered to have that removed if they re-enlist.
