US - FDA Issues Alert, Announces Recall of Common Thyroid Medication
-
IBSA Pharma Inc. confirmed it is recalling Tirosint-SOL, or levothyroxine sodium, a medication used to treat an underactive thyroid gland. This is due to the medication being less than 95% of the stated dose amount.
It is classed as a "voluntary recall" since the manufacturer found the problem and reported it to the FDA, with plans to recall it.
DO NOT stop taking the medication, as it is still safe. Instead, contact your healthcare provider for a replacement prescription.
