A trick to improve downloading.. and why does it work?
-
I sometimes have torrents which take literally WEEKS to download. I use a trick to improve the download speed. I install BOTH Utorrent and Qbittorrent, and download the same torrent to the same directory. I periodically re-check the file on both Utorrent and Qbitttorrent to minimize downloading the same packets twice. On Qbittorrent, I choose to download first and last FIRST, while on Utorrent I download SEQUENTIALLY.
Here is the big mystery... when looking at the PEERS... Utorrent has different peers than Qbittorrent! I would expect them to be the SAME! This is actually good, because I am getting MORE peers to leech from (and to send to).
I suppose I could use the peers I find with Qbittorrent and ADD them to the peers on Utorrent manually.
I would like to see the responses from people who know more about this stuff than I do.

It could also have to do with not only the speed of your internet connection, but it could also be that one torrent client is using a better open port than the other one. Next time look at what port each torrent client is using and choose to use the one which is downloading faster on both. Then maybe try using that port only on the slower torrent client to see if it makes a difference.
