Scam or real - Online Dating Verification
-
So lately I have been encountering lots of grindr profiles refusing to meet without an Online Dating Verification ID, most recent one is GLAAD ID, there were several others as well.
Half of those were obviously scams, cause they were all sent by 10+ different profiles with same pics. Those profile pop up faster than I can block them. But out of curiosity - are ANY of those ODV real, or every single one of them is a credit card scam?

I never used grindr before, but from what you told me, it sounds like a scam. You shouldn't have verify anything. The fact that you've signed up to grindr is enough. Unless they're on some new shit. But it sounds like the same kind of scam they do on some porn sites, with that age identification bullshit. You're privacy is top priority dude. Fuck that shit!!!

I don't use gridr but such sites are not using a verification ID mechanism especialy a mechanism which is not free of charge, so in my opinion it is definitely a scam.
Those sites are also based on a certain level of anonimity and privacy among its members, so those schemes are violating the terms of use.

I certainly haven't seen one that isn't a scam. I had one bot pretending they had to use it because they were previously a victim of a gaybashing which is a pretty despicable manipulation of people's empathy and fears around dating while queer.
If taking a fresh photo and arranging to meet in a safe public space isn't enough for these bots they will just have to go without.
