In more words, it can be argued that meeting in parks and restrooms was the "only option" years (and years) ago.
Today almost all gays in the developed world (and 100 percent of your audience here) has access to the Internet, with sites that allow for local hook-ups, actual dating, community groups, etc.
Public bathrooms are still used as a commonplace device in porn movies, a nostalgic carryover for some. And if you need more, there are gay bars, in some bigger cities, where you can engage in "bathroom theme nights" – for all that implies.
