New Upload require verification by Mod
-
We could always go back to the old way, give out warnings, instead, not verify content, and be shut down.
If you can't read half a page of rules for new torrents, there is a serious problem here.
The reason the amount of new torrents is less, is because we are nipping it in the bud. Users that constantly seed tons of new torrents at a time, at 5kb total, are no longer able to. The list might be shorter but it is a lot cleaner.
-
At the moment, we have 28 uploads that have never been seeded and 9 uploads were the uploader is running multiple torrents.
That's 37 new torrents we could have IF the uploaders followed the rules.
-
I bet alot of them are from the same user too.
"are we supposed to check for other versions before uploading, the thing is there are far too many rules to follow on this site and when someone new gets it wrong, well that speaks volumes." Yes, just do a search for the movie's name if it doesn't show up, you can go ahead and upload it.
The rules, condensed:
1. No other active torrents from this site.
2. No kiddie/straight/snuff/beastporns.
3. Dupes are allowed if there's a quality difference. (A DVD is on the site but you have an avi) -
Hi All,
This is my first post - but I have been downloading some stuff from this great site since the past few weeks.
On Topic: I have just added two clips to be uploaded and have not yet received any reply from a Mod. Actually I may be able to upload for around 7-8 hours a day - and what if by the time the Mod gets time to check and my torrent isn't being seeded? Then it gets deleted off. But if autoapprovals were provided, I would be able to seed 2 to 3 copies in 7-8 hours (the files are approx. 200 MB each).
So kindly assist. Also different time zones are also an issue, I may be asleep in India while the Mod is checking out the torrents!

Okay well I understand the importance of these new rules… But I myself just got a warning msg for having a ratio below 0.35. I was down to 0.34 but raised it to 0.347 by seeding a completed torrent. Now I'm trying to upload my first torrent to really raise my ratio, but now I have to STOP seeding my completed torrent while waiting for mod verification? C'mon that's just silly. That's counter-productive to the whole notion of sharing and seeding. Right now it's been 90 mins and no approval... If I have to wait longer, well then I'll be all the more inclined to leave my ratio the way it is and share my torrents elsewhere.
Mods please! Relax the rules here or you're going to lose your entire community.
Why cant you seed till you reach 0.35 then upload your new torrent?
-
Non seeded torrents stay in the system for 7 days before they are automatically deleted.
If it shows up as seeded before the 7th day and there are no other issues {dupes, illegal files, etc}, then it will be approved.
-
Neither, it just hasn't been approved yet… but will be in a few minutes...

:-l Not only have RU lost a lot of new uploads but also downloads as well - i have not downloaded any new for some time here, at one time in the good days i had at least 20 new waiting to be downloaded,
This is very sad as RU WAS the best gay torrent site now the other sites are gaining from this ruling.
Sorry wont be able to attend RUs funeral,as i am to busy down and uploading elsewhere. -
I guess we should just let anything be uploaded, no matter if it's seeded or not.
I guess quantity is more important that quality.
-
Yeah, we should become the gay version of Piratebay!
-
I'm all for the new rules. I, for one, am sick of wasting bandwidth on torrents that never complete. Also, I had to spend 6 weeks downloading a DVD ISO from another site - that was plain annoying.
I've uploaded my first torrents since the verification rule has started, and all have been approved quickly and without problem, as I follow the clear upload rules. They really aren't that difficult.

many of those "uploaders" not even read ther PM's they get from us , trying to help them fixing there issues.
one of those rules also say: YOU HAVE TO SEED 24 HOURS or at least as long other seeders are avail.. if some of you cannot wait, please stop uploading….
hope the rest of us who are able to follow our rules will continue enjoying our quality content.

It might even be, some of the complainers here would like to have a look at this thread ?

It's good to see this topic back from the dead.My $0.25.
We need a system that works better. Perhaps one that works on reputation credit.
People who have previously made good upload (none that broke any rules) should be allow to make upload without verification. They should be assume innocent until proven otherwise (as oppose to the current rule of assuming everyone is guilty/wont follow the rules).
Another idea is to have mini-mod status for "Super Contributor". These can be the people who have made more than 10 good uploads, or have 50GB+ of upload and have been with the server over 3 months (again, pick an appropriate number). Send these people an invitation to join the group. Give them access to pre-approve torrent and the power to approve torrent of first time uploader.
It's make sense to me that those who intend to contribute to the community are most likely to know and follow the rules. Give the power to the people. Let them help the community grow.

Having more cooks in the kitchen isn't going to make dinner cook any faster, we are on top of the approvals, very few sit for very long, and if they do, it is due to the seeder, not the staff. We are looking for staff to cover the Asian time zone. and as of now, I think we are covering it very well. We are spread over 3/4 of the planet and have weird hours, there is almost always a live mod in chat, that can check approvals. I do not see why the users are so against this system?

Not all mods are fans of chat, but all are on at various hours through out the day.

changes will make things easier soon.. be patient….

I'll tell you why, first I uploaded a torrent and followed the rules to enable an 'easy approval' at around 17.00 GMT yesterday and nothing happened for hours. I got bored waiting so decided I would then DL and seed another torrent. through the rest of the evening and through the night. The next morning around 07.00 i have a couple of messages about low ratios (bound to happen when your dl speed is far higher than upload speed.) I had a message to say my upload cannot be approved until other seeding is stopped??? what the hell stop improving your ratio by stopping seeding. So I did stop and set my torrent to seed. At least 5 hours later and upload/seed time wasted and numerous plees to help desk and the moderator that was 'dealing' with this problem I finally get the approval. With not even a mention of compensation for the time and trouble and seeding time wasted??
That is 'why users are against this system' it is control to the extreme there needs to be some give and take. -

Oh and regarding your 'compensation for the time and trouble and seeding time wasted' you where still seeding the file that you where trying to upload so you still got your bonus for seeding…

Hello

I have just read this thread and now wish to say something as well. While the rule does not apply for me (i guess my good behaviour is honoured, thanks a lot to the moderators here and specially Tom!) i am all for the approval.
The reason is that i myself have actually gotten banned on "another gay torrents site" despite maintaining a very good ratio over more than two years and in the end having more than 1.4 TB of traffic on my account, plus around 600 forum posts, most of which were of the nature to help others.
Why was i banned? because i publicly and repeatedly complained about one specific uploader almost never completing his uploads - he uploaded particularly larger files (over 1 GB) and "pulled the plug" when the swarm reached above 90 %. His excuse was then "I have uploaded x amount of megabytes, i consider it done". And then he deleted his files, hence making it impossible to re-seed! That was what he answered in PM's upon being asked politely for such re-seed because nobody ever completed a download from him.
So i went "public" in the forum, and that was when the trouble came in - as that said uploader was, imagine that, an ADMIN on that site, meaning one who should be particularly aware of the rules! And instead of changing his seeding (or rather non-seeding) habits, he used his admin powers to ban me and anyone else who dared to complain about him.
That torrent site has become a large monkey-house where lots and lots of torrents are non-seeded from the start as they have no approval system at all - everyone can upload and any torrent appears right away on the list, seeded or not. They say that it would be "better" to wait for a swarm to build before starting to seed- i can't follow that as here, i am happily seeding as soon as the first peer comes on and connects to me.
Also on that site, torrents are regularly deleted by one particular admin who's primary function seems to be deleting torrents - either for "violation of rules" which often is pure fiction or for "almost dead" torrents - i have wasted many gigabytes of downloads because torrents were deleted before i was able to finish them, slow torrents with 1-2 seeders and a few leechers, but anyway still active! They don't keep "dead" torrents, saying "if you want it, wait for someone to upload it again".
Here, torrents need to be seeded to get approved, and that is good so. Also i find it very good that only a certain number of active torrents are allowed - depending on the user's bandwidth. Superb! As on that other site, one can upload 29 torrents in one go, even on a dialup connection! Frustrating for leechers. Here it is taken care for the file to be available as quickly as possible, which speeds up the process for everyone, including the seeder/uploader. For myself, i am now on a limit of "5" torrents during initial uploading, however i still stick to one only - even with a dedicated IP on the leased-line system in my office, the good upload speed along with a single torrent uploading makes it quickly available for leechers and everyone is happy (including myself, seeing my ratio going thru the roof).
Lastly, i found a single quirk in the system here which may make for frustrated uploaders waiting for approval - this once caught myself. This site's upload system has the habit of "losing" pictures. Meaning, when i upload, i upload one or several pictures, everything is fine - except for after hitting the "Do It!" button, the pictures have disappeared. Does not happen everytime, but a few times already - and one time it was the reason why i did not get a torrent approved for over 7 hours - there were no pictures and i didn't know that as i had uploaded some. The pictures being a requirement for approval, them disappearing is no good. Which is why i would recommend a single change in the approval process - approve a torrent even if there is no picture, but send the uploader a PM saying he should add/re-add pictures (by "edit torrent" it's done easily) and, to encourage them to actually do that, add a warning like "if there's no pictures within 24 hours the torrent will be pulled".
I hope my opinion/suggestion will be accepted… after all, i am very happy to have found a nice home here, not missing "that other site" at all. I will continue sharing my large video collection with the guys here because it is a very satisfying feeling to see a torrent completing UPload

With kind regards......
Thanh
