I'll pray for things like: the humility to ask for help when I need it, to give thanks for good things in my life (it's just so easy to let myself drown in bad things unless I pay attention to the good things), for the comforting of other people going through terrible situations, and for help to be a better person.But compelling G-d to do what I want … that's magic not religion.

I seem to recall around the ages 12-14 I might have prayed a few times to become straight, but I don't think my prayers were very convincing or sincere, lol.
