jack, when you download a torrent file you need to open it it in a torrent client such as uTorrent.

Then you can download the file that the torrent refers to.

uTorrent is reasonably easy to setup. Then you assciate torrent files with program Then when you click a torrent file, uTorrent will open and ask where you want to save the file. Then it will link up with copies of the file and save them to your hard disk.

None of the files on this site are the actual files.

Now that they're selling computers to just about anybody, programmers have had to find ways to simplify the complex.  Dumbing down bittorrent at the programmer level in many cases means the client application (the one the downloader installs and uses) will do it's best to give as many features to the user without requiring technical knowledge such as how to open a port.  By tweaking the bittorent protocol, applications such as utorrent are able to let non-connectable users (the ones without an open port) at least connect with some members of a busy swarm.  The plus-side to opening a port is the added ability to connect to any and all members in a swarm, both connectable types and non-connectable types.

By the way, my original message in this topic pre-dates (I believe but can easily be corrected if wrong) the softer approach to ratio requirements that this site adopted. Harsher ratio requirements require fastidious attention to detail at the user end and most of the masses would be left out if such harshness was the norm.  Not that the masses should be considered dumb, but let's be honest that there is a fairly steep learning curve when you step into concepts like swarms, seeding, ports and packets.  It's always good to have as many nerd friends as possible to help you through these moments.

Thank you, I always enjoy being patronised.

And in the same way I don't need to know what's going on under the bonnet of a car, I have managed to download (and upload) the odd torrent or two without having to know anything about swarms, ports or packets

🙂 (one of your dumb masses)

PS I believe they sell cars to 'just about anybody' as well

Dont worry, I am having the exact same problem.  I've had no problem seeding torrents to other sites before, however through this site, I am not able to actively seed.  Im able to download torrents fine, but most of my torrents sit at under 25% ratio when seeding.  Ive downloaded both new and freeleach torrents.  I am not sure as to why I am having issues either, especially with a 10mbps upload speed (I have upoaded/seeded other torrents 1.1MB/s)

The 5 torrents you are seeding have many seeders and few or zero leechers and have been snatched many times.    More supply than demand, that is why you do not see much upload.

To view your torrents and to see the leechers and seeders , just click on your “Username”  in the blue bar at the top pf any GT.ru  page.  Then scroll down until you see, leaching, seeding, uploaded.  You will have to expand those (click).  Which you then should see how many leechers and seeders any torrent has.

My only advice to add to this thread is to seed everything that you download.  We all download what we like and are interested in.  For some, that may be very obscure, non-mainstream stuff.  If that is all you ever download, then I suggest you download some random freeleech torrents as well, just to give you some items that may also help you get some seeding in.  Seed all torrents until a torrent reaches a point where it has not been leeched from you in X number of days (You decide X.)  For me, if a torrent has not been leeched from me in 5 days, I remove it from my seeding torrent list.  If you use uTorrent, you can scroll across to the right and see the date you completed downloading the torrent, and a column or so later is the last active column.  When something reaches 5 days in the last active column, I remove it.  Hope this helps.

Another way of improving your ratio is to find a popular new upload of a large archive and only download one or two files (marking them "high priority might help"), so you may be one of the few 100% seeders for a while. I've uploaded surprising amounts by doing that. Because of the way multiple files are divided into "blocks," your torrent client will set aside drive space for adjacent files that you haven't selected, but they won't actually download and you can just delete them when you're done.

                      Hi,
This may seem like a stupid question… but I guess I am having trouble with the "connectable" part of the above recommendations...
I can download torrents just fine from gaytor.rent, and I leave them sitting in utorrent, ready to seed, seemingly forever.. but none of them do anything.  I don't know if I am using the wrong settings or what.  I download from other torrent sites and can seed just fine with them.. and I would love to be a good seeder at gaytorrent, but I just can't get any of my torrents to seed.  Please help.. thank you very much.

I have the same problem!! I use Transmission app on a mac.
No one could explain me why?

As mentioned in some of the posts above, it is likely that it has nothing to do with your torrent client, nothing to do with your settings, nothing to do with the tracker, nothing to do with this site. It's just that everyone who wants some of the post has got their fill. There are no people wanting to download right now.

If you have enough torrent slots, just leave your torrents seeding. I had one that was picked up yesterday, two weeks after I'd finished a reseed.

If you need a slot to download or seed a new torrent, pause one of your other torrents. Start it again if it seems a better ratio booster.

Checkout your torrent history and choose ones which have leechers. Otherwise just let things run while you get on with other stuff. You might be surprised how you ratio increases while you are not looking 🙂

Have a look at this page https://www.gaytor.rent/upload.php

                                Then read through this https://www.gaytor.rent/faq.php#29

The only quibble there is you can put anything as the Tracker URL when you create your initial torrent as the site will insert the correct details when you come to download your own torrent.

If you follow the steps on the manual Upload page you can't go far wrong as long as you remember to download your own uploaded torrent to open it and start seeding

                                      help needed..

The function "Wish List" (extreme right) in every torrent is the "button", just click it and when it turns Yellow, it means that the torrent is added to your wish list.

I think Alexander meant a button on each individual torrent page rather than alongside the entry on the Search list.

And it has been requested before.
