Anyone who has discovered they’ve been catfished knows the uniquely uncomfortable feeling that comes with knowing you’ve sent personal information and/or revealing photos to an entirely anonymous liar.

Catfishing, for the uninitiated, is using a false identity to cultivate a relationship online. It’s so alarmingly simple to do, it’s just one of a laundry list of things to keep in mind whenever you delve into hookup/dating apps.

And while it’s clearly unethical at best and downright dangerous at worst, the fact that catfishing is so prevalent says something about the environment of apps like Grindr. If you don’t present a certain narrow way, rejection may feel overwhelmingly harsh.

Davey Wavey recently sat down with a former catfish to dig into what motivated him. Inexcusable as his actions may be, we can definitely empathize some of the contributing factors.

        Catfishing is evil.

I know people of all kinds, gay, hetero, etc who manage to have relationships, so there's no excuse.
