VPNs, Seedboxes and Filezilla

I use a seedbox. I was told that everything uploaded to it and downloaded from it (via Filezilla) is encrypted both ways and my ISP cannot see what I'm up to. Is this true? Or do I also need to use a VPN when uploading and downloading to and from the seedbox?
I use Opera's built-in VPN (Win 10 version) when browsing or looking for torrents to download. Is that enough to keep me safe?
