It is just to appeal to his base, attacking the media, whether they make legitimate criticisms of his administration or not, evokes his base of support. They just love it.
Is Trump sexist? I don't know, however, one could make the argument that he is based on his previous interactions with women.

Mika as well as Joe constantly attack Trump every day and call him all sorts of things. They deserved it. It's actually long overdue. If anyone in the media had said the kind of things they did about Obama, or his aides, everyone would have told them to chill out. Defend him? Nope. Encourage him? Yep. They are sick puppies and need to be spaded for their bullcrap. I'm sure now she's embarrassed and that's what she gets for going up against the President. She kept pushing and pushing in order to create a spectacle and drama and so did Joe. So I'm glad. Fuck 'em both, their garbage. They're not even reporters, they don't report facts, they speak their disgusting opinions while pretending that it's journalism. So if you don't like that we love it, too bad!

Trump called Joe Psycho and Mika Low IQ, but then he attacked Mika on her looks. That is the sexist part. I also seem to remember one Donald J Trump criticizing Obama and even claiming he was not qualified by way of his citizenship to be president. Did any of you guys tell him to chill?
Ironically, by attacking them, Trump has given Joe and Mika and much broader platform. Now their criticisms of Trump will be heard by millions who were unaware of them before.

It's not just this comment about Mika. He also said "blood coming out of here where ever" to Megyn Kelly. I don't care how much you hate a person that is a very strange (and gross) thing to say about someone on TV to the entire country.

In his thousands of tweets, he mentioned blood twice. It's hardly an obsession. He's reminding Mika of what happened to Megan when you constantly hurl insults. Trump only "admitted" as much about the birth certificate, because he knew the media would try to use it against him. He knows it's fake, and there are plenty of worse things Obama has done. Almost as soon as Donald Trump was inaugurated president, the hosts on MSNBC’s Morning Joe began pushing a narrative that the president could very well be criminally insane.
The president, whom these hosts regularly remind viewers is tasked with overseeing America's nuclear arsenal, is mentally "unbalanced," "unhinged," and obviously suffers from "mental illness."
"He keeps getting worse," Dr. Joe Scarborough said. "Mentally, he keeps getting worse. This is a man in decline."

Brzezinski has said she is so concerned about Trump's mental health that we should pursue "Article 25" – apparently referring to the Constitution's 25th Amendment, which allows for the removal of a president who is physically unfit to serve.
"This looks like the steps leading to a total meltdown," Brzezinski. "This is really bad. Just for the record, we're all really nervous. So if people out there feel nervous, we do, too."

These two clowns on MSNBC are not journalists, they are opposition marketing. And I for one, am tickled to death that Trump called them out. They should be fired, and if you actually think Trump is in the wrong, you aren't interested in getting all the facts, just hearing and believing whatever suits your narrative. You don't have to ability to think critically.

Presidents are subject to ridiculously false attacks all the time. Think Obama as the founder if ISIS. That doesn't justify a public counterattack. And even if it does, Trump stooped even lower than they did. Either way, it is beneath the dignity of the President to get directly involved in such squabbles–that's what surrogates are for. Even Nixon used Agnew to attack the press most of the time.
As for the 25th amendment, even if Trump dressed up as Bette Midler ans sang the theme from Beaches, they would never use it. The vice-president and a majority of the cabinet have to certify that the President is incapacitated. Mike Pence's head is so far up Trump's ass that he can't tell whether it's night or day.
