Adventure is a pretty broad term. People think stuff like Zelda but "back in my day", adventure would mean point and click. I'll go the safest route and list my favorite games that have a great sense of adventure:
The Zelda games (particularly Wind Waker)
Shadow of the Colossus
Mass Effect
Skies of Arcadia -
Tomb Raider can be regarded as Action-Adventure, right?
So yeah, that's my favorite. Probably Uncharted too, though I never play one (don't own a PS3 or PS4).
