Scared Neighbors

Ever since yesterday morning, when I threw out my Christmas tree; All of my neighbors look antsy and scared. When I say hi, they turn around, run away and lock their doors. I don’t get it. I took extreme care to wrap it up so there would not be any mess with the old and dried pine needles. Check the picture! Could some one let me know what the hell is going on?
