How do I get rid of fruit flies? My kitchen is impeccable and I've cleaned out the drains with bleach, and there are still a ton of them… in December... in Ohio  😞 Help!

I tried it, it didn't work and I have bought all the stuff for nothing.

Maybe it works for you. If not, just look again, you must have missed something where they breed.

I had two or three normal flies in October when I became too cold for them outside. Normally I don't mind, but they were annoying. So I opened the windows on a very cold day, which made them slower and slower, till I could hit them easily. 😉

                That's too bad.
I used it in the past and it killed them all.
You need to keep it going for about 10 days.
The flies generally lay eggs so once you catch them you think you're done then a day later they're back
That's why you need to have the trap near your sink for 10 days or so

Basically, just pour vinegar or bleach down all the drains. You don't need much of either. Boiling water first can help also. I've worked in kitchens so I kinda know what I'm talking about. Actually, the boiling water should be first. It will help clean the drains.

It doesn't have to be anything in particular, just something with a sweet fruit smell.

We use lemonaide and it works well.

                      ACV and dish soap.
Make a lil trap I used a wine bottle.
Or raid the fuck outta them. that works to.

I hate the idea of bug spray in my kitchen.

I use vinegar as well. if u put vinegar in a glass put it by a window they drown in it and if they all sit on it just close the window.
I tried with bleach as well i fellt like the vinegar works better though.

I had a similar problem where my kitchen would be spotless but I would still get fruit flies and I would have to keep using the apple cider vinegar method… Ever since I switched from throwing away any perishable trash in the trashcan to storing them in a bag and keeping it in the freezer, I've not had any issues with fruit flies even without using the apple cider vinegar.

By the way, you don't even really need the saran wrap. Just apple cider vinegar with drops of dish soap in a disposable cup will be fine. With time all of them will drown anyway.

I am spraying all of my house drains with a spray detergent that contains bleach as well, almost once a month and let it sit overnight. I do that preemptively anyway.

When I did actually have fruit flies in the house, it seemed as though the kitchen was the problem (although I never leave food outside).

However I found out that most came from that little overflow hole in the bathroom sink.

So I sprayed the same detergent down there and let it sit overnight and they were gone!
