homosexuality is still treated as a big taboo in southern africa where democracy and the constitution defends it. i find it hard in this day and age that this still happens. time to move to california perhaps

You are lucky that you have the option. Many people may not have the means to do that. It is a constant struggle to be gay in India as well.
