Yea the name is a bit of a misnomer. It probably stems from use in other context, but has been largely adopted for this community.

A chaser is one who likes bigger guys. They could be chubby, superchub, stocky, bear, etc… As long as that person is large build like that, the chaser is interested. Well, this one is at least

these last posts are mostly correct, but generally speaking a "chaser" is a person that wouldn't be considered to be of that community, but is a person that pursues (ie. chases) those within it. like a twink to a bear.
