As with anything there are always exceptions, it's great that you and your husband are able to pull it off without any adverse effects to your relationship, I would venture to say that most people can't.

I agree 1000000% Long term gay relationships that stay monogamous are very much the exception, the longer the relationship goes on the greater the likelihood that there will be infidelity or that the relationship will morph into some variant of an "open relationship" In my opinion this tendency is a bad thing. Although it may seem fun or even natural when you're younger, as you get older it just ends up robbing you of valuable years of youth with little to show for it.
