      Love, Simon (2018)

It's a good movie or I think there would be many good gay movie with kinda this movie big budget.

Let's compare, Moonlight (2016) won Best Picture with only $1.5m budget, and Love, Simon (2018) have $17m budget.

In my opinion, it's a little bit overrated. The story also not that new, about a young high school boy who is dealing with coming out.

      I gave it 7/10

        The Secret of Marrowbone (2017)

          Hereditary (2018)

I can see where a lot of people may have enjoyed this movie, but it left me slightly confused, and chuckling at several different points. I was more irate with the fact that it took my friends and I a huge chunk of the movie to understand what was even going on. 4/10.

            Present Perfect (2017)

This is the full length version of the short film with the same title that was released in 2012. This is better than the short film in a way that the actors are way, way better than their counterpart in the short version. The pacing will bore some who will watch this but it is essential to the development of the story and the cinematography is quite good. 7/10

              1. Ideal Home (2018)
Nothing new in this movie. Gay couple who hate kid than suddenly a kid come along and they grew affection. The different is that this movie made with more bucks so its look like "something". The only thing that I like in this movie is Paul Rudd's beard.

              5/10

              2. The Domestics (2018)
The movie is just ridiculous. Set in not so long post-apocalyptic era, the story is just unreal. To be honest I fast forward my media player right to the ending and pause awhile to see Tyler Hoechlin shirtless scene  😊

              5/10

              3. Human Planet (2011-2011)
Also just finished this series. Awesome documentary!

              9/10

                Ocean's 8:
Cotton-candy movie.  Sweet and fluffy without any depth.  Enjoyable but forgettable.
The cast was very good as were the visuals.  But it's not funny enough to be a comedy and it's not tense enough to be a thriller.
                B

                The Incredibles 2:
Emotionally messier therefore better.  I want to know more about these characters after the movie ended.
Like Black Panther, the antagonist wasn't precisely in the wrong.  There was a good argument on what to do about unjust laws.
                Entertaining with some depth.

                  A Quiet Place 8/10

Saw it yesterday and liked the movie overall, with few dialogue, but manages to do the job well.

                    Hotel Transylvania 3

This one is easy to grade.  C+

There are virtually no surprises but no real flaws.  It's an enjoyable enough excuse to get out of the heat.  Adam Sandler isn't bad and Adam Samberg isn't grating - which is tremendous improvements over much of their material.

What gives it the plus is the Gremlin Air sequence.  (Though when I travelled with them in 1986 they were still using their old name of Aeroflot).  It's a burst of inspired lunacy that makes sense.

                        Ocean's Eight (2018)

I had a really high expectation about the movie because the cast packed with powerful leading and supporting Oscar winners. But, I guess its just the story, too easy. They need to make another movie with more complex situation, they already have badass casts. Gave it 6/10

                          Crazy Rich Asians.

So not my style of movie:  a heterosexual love story against "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."

It's definitely well-made and well-acted.  Like many love stories, Call Me by Your Name for example, the costumes and settings were beautiful.

For people who like this type of movie I'd give it a 8/10.

Hot Summer Nights (2017) and Postcards from London (2018)

This is the case wherein good acting saves a rather average story. Both Timothee Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name) and Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats) shows amazing acting in a rather average plot.

Both Film Story 5/10, Acting wise 7.5/10

                              1. Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Could've been better, or maybe I just don't really like Star Wars. Gave it 6/10

                              2. I also just finished Sharp Objects (2018- ) Season 1. Its a good series, I would like to see the next season and I bet that Amy Adams will get nomination for Leading Actress in Drama fro Emmy next year. 8/10

                              3. American Crime Story (2016- )
ACS is awesome in the first season with O.J. Simpson, Sarah Poulson is great. So, I'm curious about Gianni Versace, most for Ricky Martin. He had a short appearance but deserved the Emmy nomination. The season 2 is great. Full of gayness and blood. Darren Chris was great too. I thought he's gay, turn out that actually he's straight.

House with a Clock in its Walls

This would have been excellent if I were between the ages of 10-15.  I'm not the intended audience.

As an adult, it's an enjoyable popcorn movie that was worth the $5 and two hours I spent on it.  Cate Blanchette was very good.  Jack Black was Jack Black.  The little boy - ask me about him when he's about 10-15 years older.

                                  (Echoes…)
Bad Times in the El Royale.

Another movie which is outside my main interests.

The acting is quite good.  The movie looks wonderful from the set to the costumes to the cinematography.  The period music (end of the 60s) is well done.  This was a good role for Jeff Bridges and a star making role for Cynthia Envo.  I want to see more of Lewis Pullman as well.  My favorite scene involved Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Envo, and Lewis Pullman.

As to Dakota Johnson and Jon Hamm, well, they were also in the movie.  I'll reserve judgement concerning Chris Hemsworth - he portrayed a character without any depth so he might have the ability to show depth in another role.  He was just superficial with prominently exposed (wrong to the period) vanity muscles.

It's a good sign when I don't notice how long the movie is while watching it.  It's long to the point of being bloated.

If you think "Quentin Tarentino-esque" is a compliment, this is a movie for you.  It's big on style and self-conscious violence.  If you'd prefer Agatha Christie you may give this a skip.

                                    A Star Is Born

A great movie. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga were great in it. The story is simple but the music was fantastic. The pacing of the movie could be better. Some scenes were too short and others were too long. Overall, I would give it a 8.5/10.

It's also nice to see Shangela and Willam from Drag Race in the movie.

                                      Halloween 2018

I liked the movie overall. I was not a big fan that they decided to cut the timeline and only focus on it being a sequel to the original movie. Even so, Jamie Lee Curtis did a great job as Laurie, but I think she should have been given a bigger focus in the movie. Some of the deaths were very unimportant, but I liked the last part of the movie. I would give it 8/10.

                                        The Cakemaker (2017)

                                        I love this movie.

Story about a man with double life probably not new but this one is beautifully made. Maybe because I like to cook to bake, its kinda personal.

                                        Added this to my favorite.

                                          Into the Spiderverse:

A nerdfest that is accessible to the regular public.

Basic plot - a group of alternate universe Spidermans (Spider People?) have to work together to save themselves and their multiple universes from disaster.

This looks wonderful with multiple styles of animation juxtaposed against one another.  Since these involve non-mainstream characters the film can have surprises and character development (one of my beefs with most superhero tv is that characters are locked in to their images).  A couple of the reveals were delightful.  The characters have more nuance and depth than people expect from something like Ironman 7 - Tony is still an *Hole but suffers no consequences since he's a wealthy white man.

This was the final movie for Stan Lee who has a significant scene rather than a background cameo.

For ranking?  It has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.  I'm not the only person who liked it.
