I used to watch this with my sister back in the day. The last seasons were a bore, and Phoebe

      [SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!]

The fact that Phoebe didn't really have an active power was annoying.

        Spoiler

Well Phoebe gets an (sorta) active power in the later seasons. Ya definitely after like S4 the show gets a little wacky with all the different mythologies.

          @gaztunk:

I just started re-watching this. I watched the first 3 season years ago when it aired on TV but never finished it. The first half of the first season it's very weird, but then it finds it's pace and mood. Absolutely adore Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty, i'm going to miss Prue so much since she's my favorite  :cry2: but i'm also excited to see how everything changes in season 4. It doesn't hurt either that the show is filled with hot guys in almost every episode, with Julian McMahon, Ted King and Antonio Sabato Jr. taking the prize right now.

I've heard that the series quality decreases as the shows goes on, of course i'll be the judge of that, but it still makes me feel uneasy.

What do you guys think of the show??

personally, i LOVE Charmed! Piper was always my favorite sister! and the first season, i felt like it did a really great job at taking these sisters that have no idea what they're dealing with and evolving them during the first season. in my opinion, the series actually gets better as the seasons progress. keep us posted on how you're enjoying them cause i always love hearing about people's first time watching a show that i love!

            I love Charmed!
Just started re-watching too. Of course, now I'm 32yo and I see all the flaws.
            But still, very entertaining.
            Paige's power is the best.

Too bad Shannen Doherty never came back as a ghost (or time travel, or anything), and she didn't even allow them to use her images in flashbacks.

I watched it back in the day and it was a nice light show. Years later I gave it a rewatch but I can't remember if the show really went downhill that much.

The eighth season might have been a little odd, they didn't have the original actresses any more for some time or something and they had the apprentice that got all the screentime, so they don't have to pay the old stars so much.

I don't think I will rewatch it too soon. 😉

I watched all seasons and my favorite character was Piper. When I started watching the series (it had already ended) I knew Prue was going to die, but I still liked her much more than Phoebe, which is my least favorite character on the show, because she has the most limited powers of them all. For a time she loses all her powers too! There were talks of a remake, but it was shut down.

Maybe that's good that they don't do a remake. Everything they do is Pequels, Reboots, Remakes etc. pp. I would like to see something new.

Never liked it, but my mom and sisters did, and I was regularly subjected to it as a result. Though I still wouldn't consider myself a fan, I do have a nostalgic appreciation for it now. Whenever the show comes up, my mom always jokes about being unwilling to suspend her disbelief over the revealing clothes Phoebe would wear to the office, despite doing so for everything else.

They really should have played it for comedy/lighter than they did, but they took it more seriously than they really needed to. Charmed is overall a really terrible disappointment to me, especially for how awful Phoebe is and how prominent she becomes. Prue was the only really relatable one, and it's not exactly surprising Shannen Doherty left the show when she did. Constance M. Burge walking away was really the last straw for the show being tolerable. The main characters gradually became such despicable characters that it was impossible to care about them, and the show constantly presented the ugliest faces of sexism against women and men alike.

It was such a good premise. The series did show signs of developing and improving, but when Shannen left the series, it really tanked hard in quality. Too many of the episodes are also fairly dull and tend to come off as bland at best, or the most offensive stereotype of a Lifetime Original Movie gone horribly wrong at worst.

Obscurus Lupa did a series of reviews of each season (check them out if you're inclined), and while I don't agree with all of what she says, she's pretty on-point for most of them.

The CW is remaking this.  It just got pushed out to 2018.
