10GB versus 100GB
-
Personally I would rather see them split up. However as a crazy idea why not provide both options? Then people can choose which one they want?
-
I don't think I've ever downloaded a siterip. I prefer to choose individual movies by name and because they look interesting
-
I sometimes download popular siterips that are here (belamionline, bilatinmen etc.) without wanting to view them, because I know they'll be a near constant upload for me; coupled with great upload speeds, it's a nice ratio bump over time.
-
I prefer spilt up, where I can pick and choose. But preferably it should have previews at the screenshot area.
-
Its always better smaller torrents, more if you take into account most countries don't have super wide broadband connections and must be more picky when it comes to download. 10GB is rather big, not to mention 40GB.
-
I think 10GB parts would be better. That way you can choose what parts are you most interested in. I know that you can choose what files you want when activating a torrent but then it will appear in the leecher list forever because it isn't completed while you seed it…
-
That's very true but you can still seed those parts you did download. Once you have reached what you consider a reasonable upload ratio for the parts, you can just delete it from your list

-
Yes, I always do that. I never remove a torrent until I haven't seeded it enough, even if it's a torrent I haven't downloaded in full. Considering all the above I finally think it doesn't matter 10GB or 100GB, every way has its advantages ^-^

Splitting is just more convenient. To be honest 10 gigs is a lot too. If its a site rip fine but 10 gigs has to be A LOT of good content.

I totally agree my friend!

Smaller size should be better
Since, it will attract more seeder -

I would have to say that I agree with the general consensus that smaller is better in this case…. Funny thing is that I never thought I'd hear myself say smaller is better because well...... with some things, bigger is better >;-)
I say the smaller is better because there are some people who either do not wish to download the entire torrent, or in cases like mine, I'll download a torrent for one or two specific videos, but have to download the torrent in its entirety due to the simple fact that I want to get credit for actually seeding the content, and not get caught in the endless leecher staus. If I were to have to download 100GB+ in order to get those one or two files, I'd be more inclined to just pass right on by and look for just those files elsewhere. Also, it's a lot easier for the ratio if you're downloading a smaller collection, rather than having to download the whole enchilada just for a tiny piece of it..... That's just my two cents.
-
10 GB is too much, Power users would be the only ones able to share that. If a new user download that, he should say goodbye to his account, the ratio would mark -2,000,000 and he would have a 3-year lock, with a chain attached to his ankle. And never mind the 100GB …
Better in small doses, 1GB max

-
I do understand where you're coming from there zoomp…. Sadly, there are too many users (especially newer ones) who just cannot wrap their brains around the concept of a ratio in the first place. Regardless of the size of the torrent collection, there would be too many people who either wouldn't bother to check the size, or would otherwise download one of (or multiple) the torrents, along with a whole slew of other torrents, without understanding the ratio requirement.
These people would either be in the position where they need to donate, or they need to otherwise dig themselves out of the rut that they would get themselves into by participating in the forum and seeding their torrents religiously to maximize the impact to their SBP balance that they can cash in on to be able to get upload credit in lieu of being able to actually upload content.
-
But I thought we'd established that, provided the torrent is posted as separate files, there is no need to download the complete torrent. Just tick those bits that you are interested in.
And yes, you will never show as a complete seeder but you will get credit for any amount you upload/seed.
But there are members who see the total size and pass on.
For movies, I still prefer one torrent, one movie. But that's just me

Yes… You are correct. You definitely are able to just select the specific video(s) that you're looking for. I however don't like doing that because it makes it really hard to bring said torrent back to life in the future should it ever start to die down in seed poplarity

I totally agree..
