Mostly, every movie that got nominated for Best Foreign Language is awesome. You'll find the list easily from Wikipedia  😉

Hello! It will depend on your taste, drama, horror, thriller, comedy…

I recommend the ones directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/
            Micmacs à tire-larigot http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1149361
La cité des enfants perdus http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112682

            and

            La vita è bella http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118799/
            Nuovo Cinema Paradiso http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095765/
            Léon http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110413/

Films by Ingmar Bergman and Federico Fellini are a good place to start.

Also, a great list of english and non-english films:

Guess it depends on the type of movie.
I enjoyed a movie called Pans Labyrinth (think its spanish) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/

The Good, The Bad and the Weird - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0901487/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3

Also a movies called I Saw the Devil, this one is a bit graphic, lots of killing and blood but the acting and production quality are top notch http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588170/?ref_=tt_rec_tti

I would agree with Pan's Labryrinth as a recommendation, it is one of my favourite films period.

I came here to recommend "Aviya's Summer" Directed by Eli Cohen.
                  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095433/

There is a scene in the movie that is the most heartbreaking moment ever experienced by me created by a film.  I haven't seen the film in over 10 years and just thinking about it now still brings tears to my eyes and I am a heartless individual operating basically as a robot ever since I had the one feeling I ever possesed surgically removed.

Not wishing to spoil the film in anyway but also not wanting anyone who may have seen or who may see the film wondering what could possibly get tears from a stone, I will say the moment happens at a birthday party.

Indeed. Always good plots, character developments and good cinematography. What is/are your favorite/s?
