DNA survives critical entry into Earth's atmosphere
-
Some amazing news out of the University of Zurich this past week: scientists ran an experiment to determine if microbial DNA could make the journey into space, and back into the atmosphere on the outside of a rocket, and still survive. The result; it can! In an amazing discovery, the DNA not only came back alive, it was able to pass on genetic information.
This is quite a breakthrough in the way we look at how life spreads around the universe. More interesting, it gives us more insight on the possible biological beginnings of life on Earth.
