American Horror Story vs Penny Dreadful. Which one is better?

Haven't seen Penny Dreadful, but look forward to see it

American Horror Story: Season 1, Good - Season 2, Great - Season 3, Okay - Season 4, Awful. Penny Dreadful Season 1, Pretty good. The only thing I did not like about Penny Dreadful was how weak the monsters seem to be. That's my only complaint.

I agree about the monsters beign a little weak.
But at the same time the bigger picture in penny is the fight for vanessa's soul, and eva green rocks every single scene she's in

If we're judging it solely on two seasons, I'd go with American Horror Story since Murder House and Asylum were very strong. With all of the seasons thus far, Penny Dreadful would be significantly stronger; AHS went off the rails starting Coven and wasn't either scary or interesting at all during Freak Show.

I absolutely loved Asylum, but the other seasons were just fine.

I can understand that about AHS, since it's popular, it attracts more detractors. But why do you think Penny Dreadful is terrible? I think the acting, the story itself and even the environment are all top notch. I really wonder why you say it's terrible.
