      Everything you said times 2!

I have been holding off on the last 2 episodes of season 2 just because I want to really enjoy it but now it will be bittersweet knowing it's ending on a cliffhanger & there won't be more  :crazy2:

For any Broadway fans out there wondering "Should I check out this Utopia?" it should be noted the creator, Dennis Kelly, won a Tony this year for Matilda the Musical.  Which, seemed incredibly odd to me.

Enough cannot be said about the soundtrack!  I wonder will the Americanized version retain it?  http://youtu.be/-MoPZdmDERE

Not used in the series but I do love me the remix (of just about anything) and the video is pretty cool.

The penultimate episode is really, really good. The final episode starts off a bit slow in comparison and then ends really well.

Keeping Cristobal as the composer for the remake is something I've really been hoping for, but I'm also resigned to the idea that it probably won't happen. There's a huge chance that Fincher will rather bring in Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have been his composers for his last three projects, than to bring Cristobal just to maintain consistency between the projects. That said, Reznor and Ross are very good composers as well, and do bring a similar off-beat sensibility in their compositions, but their style is notably more dour, which was something that Utopia's score was not for the most part.

Look if your sitting on the fence about watching the UK version I will personally refund you all the time you invest in it if you find it 'not up to snuff'.  It will not disappoint, well, what I mean to say is it is a very unique vision and certainly one of the most engrossing tales television has spun.

The mention of Reznor immediately soured me on the American version again.  I will keep an open mind and it's not that I don't like Trent's music (some I really like/some I never need to hear again) or David Fincher's work (Oh Father by Madonna one of my fave videos of all time) but I immediately see the new Utopia as some sort of Seven/Fight Club hybrid, the colour is not there, the uniqueness has been tarnished, in my mind.

Has there been any word on casting?  If they get Glenn Close to play Mr. Rabbit I am back on board!

The series is probably going to debut either in late 2015 or in 2016, so casting might still be too early. Glenn Close would be a fantastic choice; I wonder if they could get her.

Well TV is still very much the writer's medium rather than the director's, so it's all really dependent on whether or not Gillian Flynn's approach is close enough to its source that it doesn't resemble Fincher's other work. That said, Fincher does approach his work with sufficient style that I think it'll be distinctive enough even if it doesn't look identical to the UK version; and his work in his filmography is pretty varied that I'm confident he can make it work.

It still depresses me that we're not getting a series 3. So much lost potential by a channel that admitted it was an incredible show.

I'm American so I have to steal this show online…but I LOVE Utopia.

I mean part of my love for the show is that I think the villains are right. There are too many people on the planet and no one has a solution to fix that.

No No NO!  Don't buy into that crap.  This planet can support many more people, the powers that be spread that lie.

Hopefully this puts a little extra pressure on Fincher.

Yeah. I'd rather it put pressure on Channel 4. Dennis Kelley went to the network and asked for 2 episodes to wrap up the cliffhanger, but they turned him down.

Giggle.  THE NETWORK would turn him down!

                            Oh hai dere.

Just wanted to pop in and say Utopia is absolutely the best show and yes, yes, yes.

Everything—and I do mean everything—involved with this show is glorious. Writing, characterization, cinematography, saturation, music (fucking bless Cristobal; you wonderful, wonderful man).

It's absolute mental deficiency on C4's part to cancel this show. I am still bitter about checking out Utopia's Facebook page and seeing the bullshit news that there'd be no third season.

(Graaah. Got me all worked up again.)

A beautiful show that had me hopelessly hooked. Why don't we anthropomorphize Utopia for a bit: had it been a man, he could've done whatever he wanted to me any hour of the week and I wouldn't have complained. Not once, not ever. Because DAMN, this show was that good. A total freak.

                                Furthermore, where does Jessica hide?

Glenn Close is being considered for Mr. Rabbit? Fantastic news, if so. Love her in Damages (which reminds me, I really ought to pick up the series again; still two more seasons to go!).

Nice bit of music there. And Jessica Hyde, goddamn; as dangerous as they come, a viciousness equal to her enemies. If the US adaptation doesn't die in development hell then they've got to find an actress who can pull of Hyde perfectly. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to find that #WhereIsJessicaHyde? is a thing. :3

Glenn Close is Mister Rabbit in my mind so actually no she is not being considered but if I was Glenn Close's people I would get off the phone with Phil Collin's people and be begging for the role that would finally make her a star 😉

That said I have started rumours before that turned out true, my latest is that HBO is developing Brokeback Mountain as a series, when I casually mentioned my little rumour recently at a party a total random started disclosing details about the series like Jake 'greedy bottom' Gyllenhaal is executive producing.  I didn't have the heart to say it was a rumour I started because sometimes what we wish for does indeed come from over the rainbow.

Haven't watched Brokeback Mountain, actually, so I've no idea if it'd be a good thing or not for HBO to adapt it.

Some Utopia-related news: Cristobal Tapia de Veer (bless this man) will be doing the soundtrack for Channel 4's/AMC's Humans. Very, very nice.

Episode 1 of Humans was loved here and without knowing that little tidbit.  I was watching and going "Hey that's so and so" & "That's so and so" and did I see RB?  I remember thinking whose the guy that reminds me of William Hurt and then being shocked when it was William Hurt but didn't look up whether it was RB or not.

To be clear:  Brokeback Mountain on HBO is totally trademarked by me.  Whatever anyone tells you it's a rumour I started.  Whether or not the eventual series is worth it, the film is worth watching as pastoral softcore porn for your inner homosexual.  How gay cowboys can be elevated beyond anything but softcore porn is beyond me.  This coming from a man who once was in that same telephone booth as Ennis.
