Save streaming videos?

Can someone point me to a place to read up on how to capture streaming audio/video and save it to my Mac? I am running the newest version of OS X Mavericks and would love to be able to save movies that I have bought from HotHouse so I don't have to use a browser or stream from their site every time I want to watch the movies or clips.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I don't know if it works on mac, but you can do this with Fraps or Atube Catcher, or just search on google for other Screen Capture programs.
And depending on the website, you can press the right mouse button, go on View Page Source, and try to open it in the browser player, so you can download it (I do this on Tumblr videos). Or you can even try JDownloader, although I think it just works on the most famous sites.

Thanks for the info. I had already Google'd and tried most advertised screen capture apps for the Mac - just wanted to find out what others were using. If there was a quicker, simpler solution than I may be tempted into capturing and sharing more!
