Curious about upload stats

Hi all. I'm a newb uploader and I was wondering how it's possible that an upload gets snatched when I've uploaded less than the size of the file. Is it just something to do with the stat tracking or have I misunderstood the mechanics of how torrents/seeding works all this time?

That happens when the re-seed procedure is used to jump-on torrents during their initial seeding. Another possibility is that it was a removed torrent, some members still had in their client running.
