I think it really depends on the person…  I have seen some guys that it looks really good smooth and some that I prefer would not have shaved.  I think trimming is the safe bet for most.  What bothers me is if they shave their pubes, but have hair in the surrounding areas... just looks ridiculous.

Well I think a trim around the penis and scrotum looks more natural.  For your anus, a hairless shave now and then makes for a more interesting feeling/experience, IMHO.  Mind you, you wanna have help getting that shave done…  and that can be a fun part of the foreplay.

I prefer the trim, not that I don't like shaving but I keep getting ingrown hairs with shaving in the area.

If you do shave remember to keep exfoliating the skin around there to prevent in-grown hairs!

For looks trim personally I trim because I prefer that on other men and if you ever lapse in shaving the itching and the the needles (imagine rubbing your dick on someones scruffy face you know the point were all the hair stands straight out) so its too much of an annoyance and at times a literal pain.
