Reseed requests

I know this will have no effect but indulge me while I let off a little steam

This morning I received a system request to see if I could help with a reseed. I had the file still on my hard disk so I started reseeding, eventually a few others joined in and now there are 13 seeders.

So I shared 1.36GB of my bandwidth with someone who had made a request.

I understand that if I post something,unbidden, that's my decision. Nobody asked (or most times). If I download a post, that's my decision although I always try to say thank you in some way.

But if I ask someone for help, I ALWAYS say thank you - to the helper if it is in the forums, or by bonus points, a comment or freeleech in the torrents.

So after the reseed requester had grabbed his pr0n, did he go to the original post thread and say thank you to the seeder(s) who had helped him…erm, no.
Did he maybe leave a comment for the OP for his original torrent...erm, no.
Did he drop a few bonus points for the OP... erm, no.

I have made this rant on another site and got shot down saying we don't do things for thanks. No, but if no-one says thanks the supply of help dries up.

I used to do quarterly stats for another gay torrent site. I gave up when they showed the number of people saying thanks was about 5% of the number of people grabbing the torrents.

Rant over...for now.

PS I suspect that the person who made the request will never see this. Why go to the forums when there are so many numpties who will just give you your pr0n ration for nothing

5% is pretty good.

Sadly, if you want a higher % of thank you's, you reaaly need to be on a very small "family" sized torrent site.  Anything bigger and people tend to leave their manners at the door.
